1st clinic today: i am petrified!!

i was already SO NERVOUS for clinic today, what with the fear of sucking and complete lack of practice on the relaxing full-body massage flow. now add the fact that i couldn't get more than 3 hours of sleep b/c of this nyc heat wave, and now i'm even MORE nervous about massaging in this heat, and on no sleep. UGHHH! i'm so scared the people on my table later today will think i'm WORTHLESS!

Take a deep breath. It's going to be OK! Remember, you are a student, you are there to learn and you will not be perfect your first time out! It's OK to make mistakes. *hugs* if OK

Just remember to relax,breathe and just go with the flow You'll be fine! I can remember my clinic days......Ahhh,so fun! Just do your best and use this a time to learn and refine your skills....Have fun with clinic now and don't exert yourself trying to please a client who is only getting a low-cost massage-just wait til you get a picky paying client on the table and rock their world!

I think that I have given some of the best massages when I am tired!
As long as your body is relaxed and you are present for the client it will be fine.

The client is well aware that this is a student clinic - they don't expect total perfection!

My school had a clinic too - I wish they all did.

I'm sure that you will love it by tomorrow...it's an exciting and interesting place to be.

I'm so glad you posted this because I start clinic in about 4 months, and I'm sure I'll be feeling much the same, but right now I'm just so excited to get there!

I had no idea that not all schools had clinics! eek! Now that is really scary!
On top of clinic, working with the public, we have to have 30 documented hours of working on our friends/family as we learn Swedish. It's part of our grade.

At any rate, I'm excited to hear how things are going for you snailshells! I bet you were awesome.

thanks for all your kind words and support, everyone! today turned out to be an excellent experience! a couple more hours of sleep and the AC at school helped to get me excited, so by the time my first client arrived i was actually kind of looking forward to it. and it went really well!! i felt happy and content during the massage. it reaffirmed that i do enjoy this, even though i am sometimes frightened and lack self-confidence and wonder if i made a right career choice. i received some good feedback and encouragement today, both from you guys and in person, and it was much needed.

i really appreciate all the ears out here for when i needed to whine!! i'm so glad my very first clinic is over, and i stop being scared about it!
