1st Visit to Thailand.. Need Some Info.

I had some concerns about my 1st visit to Thailand. Please answer as many of these questions as you can. Appreciate the help.

1. I realize Thailand is not a very wealthy country and nor are the people. If they saw me as a "rich foreigner" would that put me at risk of being robbed of money/passports/my life?

2. What is the difference between Bar Girls and GoGo Girls? And which would be the better or best place to pick up women in Pattaya or Phuket?

3. I'm in my 20s, and I've had very limited experience with prostitutes. I feel a little paranoid about this, but besides wearing rubbers is there anything else I can do to prevent getting STDs? Is it possible to contract anything from getting a BJ from the girl or cunnilingus?

4. If I took a Bargirl for a LT and went back to the same bar the next day to get a different girl, would the girls look down on me for doing this, or would it be a problem or is it expected that guys normally come back for more women?

5. I'm going to Thailand to meet as many women as I can, and only women. Are ladyboys very difficult to distinguish from real women? I mean isnt it possible to distinguish them by the way they look or their voices? I am not into that sort of thing, and would hate to accidentally pick one up by mistake? Any tips?

I'll try to answer your questions although there are probably all the answers you need by using the search button for other threads.

OK Question 1
Easy.......No,you are probably in more danger of this living in your own country.LOS, like many others has thefts,robberies,but if you use you head and take the usual precautions and dont "flash the cash" in public then its not a problem for you.

2. Bar Girls work in a specific bar and Go Go girls are freelancers.Freelancers tend to ask and get more for their "services" Bar girls are probably safer to go with as if there is a problem ,then you can go back to the bar you found her and resolve the problem with the bar owner.
I can't comment on Pattaya,but you will have no problems finding a woman in Phuket. And consider, Pattaya has far more girls available there.

3 By using good quality condoms is the only way (apart from abstaining) to avoid STDs. To catch anything from a BJ would be very rare,but cunninlingus can pose more risks for you.

4 Its not usually wise to take another girl from the same bar, as the first girl will "lose face" in the bar if you return to take another one.Also the other girl may well not wish to go with you as she will not want to fall out with the first girl. Make it clear that you want to "butterfly" and go with other girls when talking to the girl you want.

6 As an American tourist you will be welcomed by the Thais. You are at no more risk than anyone else.

Never mind about it, Thailand is safer than so many other western countries, but as everywhere, there are sometimes some rubbers in activity... really not the rule and if, unfortunately, it happened, you will find many Thai and farangs to help you. But I have had never problem in LOS, sure



A bar girl works in a normal bar, as you will find so many everywhere. She brings the drinks to the customers, chat with them and usually is ready to follow them in their room for money (1000 bath).You will need to pay a bar fine (200 bath)

A go-go girl is a dancer in more specialized bars, also ready to follow you, and I think for mor money than a BG (and bar fine more expensive, 500 bath)

A free lancer is a girl you will mostly find in disco and works for herself. Sometimes BG after closing time, or masseuse, or just a girl who don't want to be attached to a place. Same same. They all go with you for money and there are loads of them.

If you are trained, even then it's difficult sometimes. You are new, and you won't see the differences in the beginning. Smell them and look at their hands. Avoid big hands.

I am also an american and also close to your same age. I have never had any problems in Thailand except for the occasional taxi driver trying to get a few hundred extra baht for a fare.

Over here we get quite a few sensationalized reports regarding foreign countries...but just be aware these are more to get good news ratings rather than public service announcements. You will not find yourself a target other than for people trying to sell their goods and services to you as a rich farang tourist. (Oh and I get less crap for wearing my red sox t-shirts and the like over there.)

That being said, I personally wouldn't travel to the far south, just because of the recent violence. I doubt this is the first place you have on your itinerary anyways.

Read up on things. There is a ton of valuable information on this site!

Just like Magnusvv said, do not go to Southern Thailand and you will be fine. No more problems than your normal town in US and less than LA, New York, Chicago, Miami or any other big city in US.

Just act like you know what you are doing, walk on main streets and use public transportation, try to stay coherent at the end of the night, and don't take any drugs while in Thailand. Go go MTB and talk to Nicke and the BM's there and get the current info from them after you arrive. Don't walk around with too much money, take just enough to get by at night and a little extra, and don't flash a big roll of cash.

seriously, spotting lbs can be a fine art, here are a few (non guaranteed foolproof) tips.

a. might be taller or more glam looking
b. more acentuated feminine behavior (hipswinging, hair flicking).
c. you could ask (though most lbs consider themselves female, which is up to them, but no good to you if you dont want to shag a bloke).
d. ask another bar girl, who would prob tell you (especially if shes from another bar). I`ve done this, and even bar girls have had to have a good hard look before giving a view.
