Hello I hope this finds you well and enjoying life. I recently had the opportunity to be at Cozy Cottage for their 10th Annual Fall Sale event, held at the Palo Community Center (in Markham area). Crafters from all over come to display and sell their wares or crafts. This event seems to mark the beginning of the holiday shopping season. It’s loads of fun to go and see what people have crafted and what the possibilities are for Christmas gifts. There were a wide variety of materials used ranging from wood, stone, cloth, metal and even food. In the food room there were many preserves as well as cookies, breads, pies and even, get this, Mountain Dew cupcakes! Yes, they were the color of Mountain Dew and supposedly to die for in the taste category. For the guys, they also had a room called the Man Cave. Since it seems like a lot of the things there are geared towards women’s interests, it made sense to have something for the men too. Memory Lane Café from Gilbert was there in the lunch room serving up food to eat while there. On Saturday morning the Palo fire department did a pancake feed. And of course it wouldn’t be complete without offering chair massage - so another therapist and I split our time there.
We were in a corner complete with a privacy screen and it was a success! Again, like the Embarrass Fair, it was great fun to meet new people and see familiar faces. It’s always fun getting out there and talking to people as they can be very interesting and I enjoy learning from them. I got to hear a conversation a friend of mine was having with someone who had received a massage while floating in a geothermal pool in Iceland! Her friend had told her that once she got a massage there she would have a hard time finding a massage elsewhere that would compare to this one. I had never heard of this place before and was intrigued by her description of it. You can go to www.bluelagoon.com for more info.
That being said, people that I get to work on can say the most interesting things, things that I may take for granted until they voice it and put it into their perspective. For example: “I told my husband that if I don’t keep getting massages I wouldn’t be able to keep grooming dogs.” Another was, “This is a necessity, I need this to keep moving,” as she has been a drink server for 10 years at a local casino. Another comment was, “You know how you just want a massage because you know how good it will make you feel? Well today I knew I needed it because I hurt really bad and knew it would help me. So today went from wanting, to I needed this massage.” And this last one: “Well if this helps me then getting a massage is worth it.” I know none of these are earth shattering revelations, but what they are, are “aha” moments for these individuals. It’s what drives them to get their massages. Do you have an “aha” moment?
