Advice On Ambasador Hotel In Sukimvit Soi 11

Hi ,
I propose to stay at Ambasador hotel in Soi 11 Sukimvit.
Can any one who has used this hotel let me know if it is a good place to stay and is it near the Nana and Night life.

ok hotel ,not to bad for location, rooms are a little dated,close to sky train ,near soi 11 beer garden,carry on walking and your at nana plaza,
short tuk tuk ride and your at soi cowboy.

the hotel is "ok".
Be prepared for a joiner fee of 650b-----suprise!
Some of the rooms are gettig a little worn. IMHO The Grand President next door would make a better choice, no joiner fees, and the rooms are nicer. The room that I had at the Ambassador had a nasty musty smell, and some serious stains on the carpet. If you not planning on spending any time there and not planning on entertaining, then it's not bad for the price. Everything that you could want is in their complex, internet, tailors, minimart, and the food in the restaurant isn't too bad.

Furthermore, you will be hassled by night staff if you walk back to your room with an asian girl, even if she is a hotel guest. Very shocking :angry:
Used to be a good address in the past but I would avoid that place if I were you.

Thanks for your advice. I would diffentely not like the night staff looking at me that way for sure .. After all I am paying for the hoetl accomadation.
I have booked in Amari Bulaward in Soi 3 which I guess is more professional.
I still belive.. PAY MORE GET QUALITY... BOTH IN HOTEL AND A GIRL...

Bobby i have to disagree with you for the first ever time.
i have stayed there quite a few times, admitted its not the best ,but i have never been hassled by the night staff and i have had a few checked in friends stay over with me.
but yes the are better places to stay.i just like the location

when was the last time you were there???
I went to the front desk after the night side charged me, thinking that they were trying to make some extra $$and pulling a scam, and was told that that was their policy. "Registered guests" only, and then he pulled out a paper with their "guest" policyand the charge, I asked why that I was not explained this a check in, and they showed me the fine print on the sign in sheet that said "registered guests only". This was November 2004, I won't be back.

The problem I have in BKK is that my return to the room is often inhibited by the large amount of alchohol consumed. I found the Ambassador quite anonymous - once you have located the lift - and the staff completely indifferent.

The Amari Boulevard had a smaller but much better appointed room but then it was USD 145 (£90) per night... The Ambassador is a little tired and needs a paint job, but it was only about THB 2000 $40 (£25) and had a big bed and a working shower...

I was careful to walk in a straight line to the lift at the Amari... It was quite a posh place. Each to his own.

However, as I have mentioned in another thread you can buy the most expensive wine you have ever seen in the small 7/11 style supermarket directly opposite the Amari. Chateau Cheval Blanc and some fabulous Pauillacs... Obviously it helps if you have 3 or 4 hundred pounds on you...

amari boulavard has a 900 tb charge for "overnight guest", was too far gone to argue, especially as i was so p....d i could not remenber which room i was in.

Hi Eric,
I used to stay there a few times between 1999 and 2001, was never hassled and really enjoyed the place. But last February, I stayed there 3 nights with my girlfriend (that I registered in my room) and every night, we were stopped by the security at the entrance of the tower wing, near the lift. They asked my room number and my gf's name, checked something on their computer and finally let us go. Not really the kind of behaviour we enjoyed. We were never treated like that in some other places (i.e. Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Belle Aire Princess, ...)
On the last night, as we stayed with a colleague of mine (Oli for the ones who remember him), I let my girlfriend walk in with him (of course, she carried the key). I followed them and it was really funny to see them stopped in front of the lift. I'm still laughing when I recall the guard's face when he realized that they had both their own room. :blah:

i agree its not the best but it served a purpose.

it was november 2003..maybe it's changed but i doubt it! Great hotel for a couple but not so great if you're entertaining and there's no way you can sneak past reception.

i've never paid more than £40 at the amari booking through trailfinders,good food counter in that supermarket open 24 hours a day ,great for a bowl of noodle soup at 4-00 in the morning.
