No more dangerous than any other big city night-life area. The last few times I was on Revolucion at night, I noticed that it is becoming very popular with the young local adults. You see young Mexican fashion plates decked out and Goth/Hip-Hop/Bohemian/Hipsters and several types that could be described as just regular young folks out looking for a good time. There are even more young Americans than there were recently but no where near as many as there were 10 or 20 years ago. Come to Sampson's fiesta this Saturday and see for yourself. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.


Dunno'. You had better speak pretty good Spanish or find a taxista in the know. There must be some hidden casas de citas there but I have never tried to sniff them out myself. I think "most" does not apply here. Some like to go by themselves, but I see wingman teams all the time. I see guys on sites looking for wingmen...like this post. I know that I go with a friend more than not...I am comfortable either way.

There are multiple bus companies that drop off right at the walk in gate. Round-trip is pretty inexpensive.

OC, why wouldn't you want to use a TJ hotel? Dollar-for-dollar, you are going to get a better deal in TJ. I really like La Espana on the east side of Revolucion between 3rd and 4th. (Or is it between 4th and 5th? I can never remember.) Very inexpensive and clean and quiet. (I know, it is hard to believe that a hotel on Revolucion would be quiet but it is.) And best of all, it is stumbling distance from la Zona.

There are always bus loads of Mexicans traveling to from LA to the border. Search "Crucero" I always see that bus on the 5 and broken down on the 5. get yourself a cheap ass border hotel (on the US side) to spend the night or drag your ass back to catch that bus leaving at 5 am back to LA.

The bus is pretty cheap. (Sadly, the train is pretty expensive.) The bus and the train both drop you off downtown San Diego. You then get on the "San Ysidro" trolley and the trolley literally ends at the border crossing. The only problem is the trolley stops running at night. But you were going to do a toda la noche with a chica caliente, anyway, right? I think there are actually buses from LA that will take you all the way to the border, too. There are buses that will take you from the border to LA, that's for sure, and they are very reasonable. Certainly cheaper than the gas it would cost you to drive (depending on your vehicle).

I'm Divest I've been on these forums for about 2-3 years now, mostly lurking. I'm not a TJ newbie but I haven't exactly been there recently and I'm looking to go! The only problem is that I crashed my car about a month ago and I don't really have a means of transportation until I get that taken care of.

My question to all of you is this: who's looking for a TJ buddy? I've been wanting to go back so badly but not alone. I've got money to help cover gas and hotel etc if someone coming from the LA area is looking for a mongering partner. I'm a real laid-back and friendly guy.
