A COMPLEMENTARY therapy course for parents and carers of children with complex needs in Knowsley uses massage and essential oils to help support the health and wellbeing of the children.
Parents and carers who have completed the Aromatouch course, which is run by Knowsley Council, say it has a positive impact on their child’s wellbeing and the whole family’s home life.
According to a Knowsley Council spokesperson, children who had previously rejected touch are now able to enjoy cuddles with siblings and parents, and families find their children have improved sleep patterns and better moods.
Councillor Gary See, Knowsley’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “The results of Aromatouch activities for children with complex needs and their families can be quite literally life changing.”
