Have you been finding it difficult to fall asleep nowadays? A few home remedies like drinking a glass of warm milk with some nutmeg might help you catch a shut-eye. But if all fails then your should give aromatherapy a chance. No, you don’t need to go to some spa to experience it and shell out a huge deal of money, all you need is some essential oils.
Lavender and chamomile oils are two of the most effective essential oils that will help you get a good night’s sleep and feel fresh in the morning.
Lavender oil: Extracted from the lavender herb, it increases stage 2 or light sleep, decreases REM sleep (the sleep phase where you are most likely to dream). Lavender acts as a mild sedative promoting deep sleep.1
Chamomile oil: It has been widely used to treat sleep problems like insomnia and nightmares. It is also known to be a mild sedative and calms nerves and reduces anxiety.2
How to use essential oils:
1. You can add a few drops of either of these oils to your bath water and take a warm, relaxing bath before going to bed.
2. You can also burn some oil in a diffuser by your bedside. Diffusers spread the aroma in your bedroom slowly and the smell isn’t overpowering.
