Here are the numbers as of today from the government of Canada website. 26,977,663 tests performed, 951,562 cases, 889,850 recovered, 38,922 active cases, 22,790 dead. You can decide what this means. I couldn't find the break down by category but I had seen them a while back and the stats showed that 2 people aged 19 and under died, over 80% of the people who died were in long term care homes and had other health issues. Once again, just providing the numbers and letting you decide.

Ok so 20% of the 23000 people that died works out to 4600 people that were not in long term care homes. That number is 1.5 times higher than the number of people who died at the World Trade Center. And that's just people in Canada. We all know life has changed permanently since that day.

It will be interesting to see what the total number of deaths in Canada for 2020 will be from all causes. The last three years total deaths in Canada from all causes was 205,000 plus or minus a few hundred. The thing that surprised me was that the total deaths from homicide was 387 in 2019 the last year for the stats. Based on all the talk about guns I would have expected this number to be a lot larger as this number includes all types of homicide not just someone who was shot. I looked for Toronto and saw that there were 490 shootings but only 44 deaths from the shootings. So guess the news stories focused on the shootings and not necessarily the deaths from the shootings.
