Who is it Burt I'm dying to know? PM me if you wish. I'm not saying it can't happen that a waiter is going to drug you, but it's very highly unlkely and nothing you should worry about, especially at the popular bars in the Zona, AB, CC, and HK. Thise bars make a ton of money, along with the chica, there is really no need to rip you off.

There is a certain amount of 'arrogance' from the American sex tourist crowd. They get all concerned about getting drugged and ripped off in Mexico, but don't give it a second thought in a American dive, with US sluts trying to give it away for free!

I have to say frankly that I would be embarrassed to follow TJ John's advice to ask the waiter for the price of the drink before I buy it. I guess you can get away with it in Mexico, but if you try that with a 'real date' in the US she'll likely get up, and RUN AWAY, while YELLING Cheap-skake! { No you're right the $100 drink scam, doesn't take place in Tijuana, the worst that will happen to you is the BG will order a ' Redbull' for $11, or if you go to Revoluton, a double drink for $22, ouch! Now in the US the strip clubs will pull the champagne scam, the stripper will ask you to buy her a drink, and the waiter will come back with a bottle of champagne, opened ASKING FOR $100, FUCK THAT, but it's a bitch getting out of there.]

You know they tried that $1 bill switch trick on friends of mind before, but they never tried it to me. That's another one I don't worry about, it would be a sad mistake on the waiter part if they tried that to me.[ You give them a $20 and the waiter says, no senor, you only gave me a $1}

There are some practices that are prudent to form and follow, especially when one mongers world-wide.
--One is to not to give somebody the opportunity to spike a drink.
--Another is to ask the price of drinks before ordering. Especially if "the lady" sitting with you asks for something out of the ordinary. A world wide scam is the $100.00 "special drink" a bar girls orders. (Although this is one scam I don't hear about in the Zona.)
--Another, in TJ at least, if to carry ones and fives. Sometimes waiters don't return with the change for a twenty or hundred.

Nobody gives you tap water in Tijuana if you ask for WATER, It's always bottled WATER. In the higher class areas they have purified water in hotel and restaurants. If your not sure ASK, The locals don't drink the WATER, why would they give it to you? NEVERMIND, that could be a dumb QUESTION

Really don't worry about it. A waiter will always open a beer bottle in front of you, and if you ask for WATER they will give you bottled water, but you might have to pay for it, sometimes even more money than beer.

If a waiter wants to drug you, they could just wait till you go to the bathroom, and put the drugs in your drink, or when the Bar whore is giving you a LAP dance.

1--A chica to go upstairs with you and come downstairs with your wallet, the contents of which she splits with him, or
2--You to pass out at the table so he can get your wallet.

It happens. Fortunately, not too often.

The hardest drink of all to spike is water. (Bottled water is safe to drink, but I'd avoid tap water. Ice is made from purified water so it's safe too.)

I sure as hell wouldn't drink tap water. The water I drink in the bars is bottled water. Unopened, and the waiter doesn't open it either.

Hey guys:
I only drink Tecate in TJ. It tastes like budweiser . The waiter always
opened the bottle in front of Me. I did not concern that much about strange
stuff that they may put into my beer when I take a leak in the restroom.
In the Miami bar they also allow mongers to bring water bottle and or fruit juices
.Adelitas don't allow anything intheir bar even a water !!!

I don't think there is alot of people being drugged in the bars of Zona Norte, but you never know. You make an interesting point though as the meseros may do it if they have a lady in the bar. I say this as it has always uspset me seeing the stupidity in those small bars.

If I was managing a bar, I would hire either women as meseras or men older than 50. To many young meseros interfere with business as they have a love interest in the bar, and the chicas are constantly getting sign language instructions from them, or running to the dressing room or bathroom to talk to thier mesero boyfriends.

If you are not around alot this may misss you, but nearly all the meseros in bars like BT, LC, LT and in the alley have meseros that are having some sort of relation with a chica in the bar.

I drink beer, it's cheaper than WATER in most of the bars. I tend to drink a little too much when I visit Tijuana. So towards the end of the night I do switch to WATER or better yet coffee, as coffee is free many times, and I only tip a buck.

I don't trust guys that don't drink, and hang out at ' Hooker bars' and they don't take the ladies upstairs, if I see them, I stay away from them.

Water. Whatever you drink, it is prudent to make the waiter open it in your presence. Have a friend watch it if you visit the "facilities," or better yet order another.

Negra Modelo is an excellent beer, but even in the dead of winter those clubs are so damn hot inside that I love the cold crisp flavor of Dos Equis. Drop some lime in there and you're in business.

I'm usually a Corona man, but they don't have it everywhere (particularly Adelitas). I used to go with Sol, but I am leaning more towards Dos Equis lately. Bit better flavor. And if it's like 3-4am already, I switch to water.

What is your drink of choice? When I first found Zona Norte, I ordered juice and then soda as I really didn't want to drink. Soon I found that Beer was much cheaper, and started drinking Tecate.

So what is your drink, or do you just stay out of the bars and hang in the alley?
