SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
BIOTONE today announces a donation of $15,000 to support two Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) 2013 community service projects. Since 2004, BIOTONE has contributed more than $100,000 to MTF programs and services. BIOTONE’s contribution this year makes it possible for two community-based organizations to provide healing touch to individuals who are going through serious life-changing experiences.
“BIOTONE’s commitment to our community service efforts has been unwavering over the years, enabling hundreds of individuals throughout the country and across borders to benefit from massage therapy,†said Ruth Werner, MTF president. “We are very grateful to BIOTONE for its ongoing financial support and industry commitment to raise awareness about the benefits of massage therapy as part of an integrated healthcare program.â€
About the BIOTONE Funded Projects
For the second year in a row, BIOTONE’s funding will support “Grief Massage at The Respite: Comfort for Life Transitions & Loss.†The 2013 program at the Charlotte, North Carolina-based Respite, a Center for Grief and Hope, will help individuals reclaim a healthy and productive life after experiencing a significant loss – the loss of a loved one, a marriage or relationship or a job or career. This year’s program expands last year’s work, which focused on individuals who were grieving from a sudden or traumatic loss of a loved one. Results indicated that deep relaxation provided by grief massage can shift the human nervous system from fight or flight into the relaxation response.
BIOTONE’s 2013 MTF contribution also will support “Massage Therapy in Pediatric Care†offered by the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles (CHLA). The group helps create hope and build a better future by providing care for children, adolescents, young adults and families suffering from chronic pain. The 2013 community project will extend an existing CHLA-Heart Touch Massage Program, which provides pain management services to families in the Pediatric Pain Management Clinic (PPMC), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and to rehabilitation outpatient clients, to patients in the palliative care program.
“Funding for the Massage Therapy Foundation community service projects is a cornerstone of our corporate charitable giving,†said Jean Shea, BIOTONE president. “We take great satisfaction in knowing that through the MTF projects lives are enhanced by the healing benefits of massage. The projects also are building an indispensable body of knowledge about the value of massage to provide relief for a wide range of conditions of the mind and body.â€
