Asking for advice.

I am being blackmailed.
Met this woman under the guise of a work related meeting. We drank she flirted. She came on strong. (not sure if she added something to my drink).
We ended up in a Hotel. She calls next day to meet again, I say, I can not help you, She basically made me meet her, hubby was there. Kind of weird but hinted at blackmail. Didn't take the bait
Got a call a few days later threating to send video footage to my family.
What would you do? What are my best options.
I would like to go to the authorities. Is that best option? Do I call and say I am being blackmailed? will my family find out? Do I go through a lawyer?
or do I have someone call and threaten them?
Do I ignore the whole thing?
How does this end?

Ignore, block, move on with your life.

If this was a scam, scammers have no interest in making good on the threat to send information to your family as it removes all their leverage and might make you vindictive. So if this was a setup from the get go just ignore.

If this WASN'T a setup and just a couple finding themselves with an opportunity they'll also likely go away once they realize this is gonna take a lot of effort.

Do not pay, do not engage with them further. Just block and move on with your life.

This is pretty rare I think being BM like that, I would imagine u have to be fairly wealthy to be targeted.

Paying seems like a bad idea since they will just demand for more $.

I think just letting them know that u are willing to go to cops is best idea. But also depends on counter party do they have anything to lose?

Tell them you have them on video, recorded your post hotel meeting with the help of a PI,

ask them how they would like to proceed?

Then ghost them.

Lot's of options available without immediately informing anyone (LE, family, etc) there's no statue of limitations or

rule which should make you feel the need to expedite a resolution.

Of course you will have feelings of regret, that's who you are, did you think drinking or being drugged might take that away?

You've confessed to us, that should be enough ....... for now.

if you met her through work chances are you can get her name and file a report with the police, like the otheres have said don't pay them or they'll be coming for more $$ you think they would go away after you pay them? No they would come back and keep milking you until you're out of cash.

I agree with @sandbox If you release funds to these quads they will always come back for more. Block / Ignore and maybe just maybe change your number... and move on and learn from this.

Good advice here..... DO NOT PAY!! ...that just sets you up to continue paying. From police and legal stand point, go see a lawyer you trust for advice on how to proceed. I can't believe that a co worker would do this....very strange. Try to find out as much as you can about her. I would guess that she has done this before. And if so, was she ever charged with this in the past?? Information is your leverage against these people.

Don't do anything rash and take a step back to make a decision if this is indeed true.

If they ask for substantial money and you have it, I would try to find leverage on her or anyone close to her by hiring a private investigator.

This is like a game of chicken. You want to force them to make a decision by telling her what you are going to do. If you have no leverage, tell her you have proof of the blackmail (or whatever leverage you have) and you will go to the police by this time. if she does not give you all the videos and backups, you would go down with her.

Be prepare to take a L with your family knowing and start some kind of damage control.

If you pay once, you will be asked to pay over and over.

If you don't; when you say family do you mean wife?? 'cause that, is a marriage ending story in many cases. you'll have to manage accordingly.

If is just your parents, siblings, etc. IGNORE IT.

If they insist on payment GO TO THE Cops, sextortion is very common now days, coppers will end it and protect your identity

Blackmail is an offence punishable for up to 5 years for first offence.
