Body Cushions...good or bad?

Would like to know your expierences...good or bad when using the "Body Cushions" by Body Support.  Do you have any tips on how to better use them in your massage.

I've got one and love working with it.  It just takes so much pressure off the back that it makes my job easier.I use it with my table's face cradle extension - that way it doesn't need to be moved up when turing to supine (or pushed down if going to prone).The only thing I found a bit of a problem was the velcro attached arm rests tended to become loose, probably because my table is narrower than most US ones.  BodySupport did recognise the arm rests are a bit wobbly and have changed the design of the arm rests now and they don't use the velcro anymore.At first I only used it for prone and would pull it out, but I now leave it on the table.  It really does give great access to the back and neck in a supine position.The other advaneforum.xxxe is that I can fit quite tall men on the table without having to drag out the extender -  even though the incline isn't that much on the chest pieces, it does make quite a difference to howmuch table length they take up (even with bolster under the knees)There are two techniques I've not managed to work with the cushions: lomi lomi - the legs just don't seem to work with the cushioning.  That's probably something to do with having the table low to have the cushion at the right height and that is just a bit too low doing forearm strokes at back of knee level.LaStone - bit hard to place the rocks under the back with that open access to the back when supine   ditto for the belly stone when prone

Melb,Thank you.  When you say you use the face cradle extension, I assume you mean the face rest which comes with the table and that you just lay the body cushion face rest on top of "it".  I have the split leg supports and they are strapped together, I am thinking of cutting the straps so that they are separate. Did you have any problems like that? Again Thank you, George

You're right, by face cradle extension I mean the one that comes with the table. When they turn over, I just pull the face cradle out and the bodyCushion face rest drops down.I've got the split leg support and like them being strapped together - I like being able to pull it out and it hangs over the side of the table then I can place it back easily, but I can understand why you might prefer them separate. آ It's a lot easier to cut the strap than attach one Other than the arm rests with velcro attachments, I've not had anything I consider a problem. Unless you count the soothing sound of the velcro as you pull a bit that is velcroed together apart, but that noise is usually more of a problem for me than the client Plus I don't pull that much apart.George, you're obviously using a bodyCushion.  What's been your experience?

The cushion was just delivered this past Tuesday by UPS so I have only practiced on my wife so far.  I did get info up on my web site about it. http://www. MassageOhioValley.com    I have all ready gotten som interest in the cushion...from women

The face rest idea of yours...works very well, sometimes it is the obvious that we over look.

My daughter also a therapist in the D.C. area has used one for years, and is very pleased.  She is the one that finally talked me into getting one

I use it often--people with lumbar issues , people with breast augmentation , and pregnant women----all having positive results. For the majority of clients I will leave the room as they turn over and pull the cushion out-they usually throw it on the floor.....seems to work so far..........

Body Cushions...good or bad?

I use my body cushion on all my pregnant clients...They all say it is worth the massage just to lie on their stomaches.As far as taking it out...as long as it is velcroed together...I ask the client to back up on all fours, I turn my back to them so I wouldn't see anything (the drape covers them anyway) and pull the face cradle...the attachments come out all in one piece...it's very easy, but may take some practice to do it smoothly.It is also nice for men that have distended bellies...aka beer bellies.

I have used the bodycushion for about 4 months and it is great. You can get into muscles with the client prone.  like nothing else I have done.With a single thumb and using the other hand with the hyperthener lean into the move and get most if not all upper back muscles deeply.It saves your thumbs and clients like the deep work.and there upeforum.xxxody is decompressed       Ron LMT
