Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera or the Sony Alpha A200K 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera

Which one of these cameras is better for a newbie who is interested in photography?
 
I would go with the Canon XTi. Mainly because Canon has a huge lineup of lenses that are easy to get a hold of used for pretty cheap where Sony is pretty new with not as big of a lens lineup. Also, Canon would probably have better resale value if and when you were going to sell it.
 
Sony Alpha A200K is comparatively good.
My personal suggestion would be Nikon D60 of D90
