My dog, the squirrel chasing fiend that he is, tends to be a bit reckless when persuing his quarry.  There have been a few times when he's slipped on wet grass when leaping at the tree for the offending squirrel, fallen down, and really limps afterwards...usually left rear leg.Any experts out there?  I palpate his hip, probe here and there, hold areas like I would a TrP, do some general petrissage, flex the joint a few times, and when he gets up, seems fine.  Does anyone have any more ideas?  thanks...mick

We have two dogs.....Our Elder is 11 years old and the Younger is 5.The Elder is a c.ocker cross and benefits VERY MUCH from Trigger Point and cross fiber friction and stretching as He and the Younger walk at least 6 miles at least 2-3 times a week with my wife.  He enjoys very much as well petrissage and effleurage ???The Younger is a miniature dachsund and She sustained a back injury due to jumping from a height and benefits from the holds, stretches and Trigger Point, as well as effleurage and petrissage, too.2Trees I think I will obtain a Canine muscle and skeletal chart as well as these two Canine companions of ours come to my Wife and I after my MT education more often now than They did before.Sincerely,CaringHandsMss

Yeah....its cute how they will go to my wife who self-proclaimingly says "I just know how to rub"...and means it with all sencerity, but will often say to me, "Hey Hon, is this a hypertonicity? trigger point? etc?", and then pass that canine off to me at that point. آ Yeah and if I just try "to rub" them.....Your comment comes to light quite brightly in their eyes til they get what they need and want....."Hands were made for massaging don't ya know!!! ???  ??? and then they won't take No for an answer!!!Sincerely,CaringHandsMss

I know what you guys mean. There's an elderly golden retreiver next door and when she's in our enclosed courtyard (the owner's friends with the landlord) and the dog sees me, he goes through the effort (and it's a lot of effort because he's very old and arthritic) just to have me 'rub' and pet him. I feel so guilty sometimes seeing the efforts he goes through. I walk up to him to make it easier on him, but he insists on sitting up.And you're right: Hands ARE made for rubbin'.
