Certified Massage Therapist v.s. Licensed?

I was thinking of going to school to become a massage therapist and had some questions. I know that it would be more convenient for me personally and cheaper to get certified online. Work from home at my own pace etc but I understand that it would just be that, a certificate. If I go to school I know it would be literally 20x more expensive but I would get my licence.

To me it seems like having a GED vs Diploma. Would having just certification make it harder to get a job at lets say a spa or hospital or something? Are people with a licence in massage therapy chosen over those who got their certification online?

With this you can become a massage therapist from home and be a CMT rather than LMT. I am from Kentucky.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. In most states a therapist must be licensed. Maybe your state is different,but I don't think an online certificate will be enough. Where I live and practice,if you are caught practicing without a license,you are in big trouble..Maybe if you told us what state you are in,a MT from that state could better answer your question.It looks like you need a license....http://bmt.ky.gov/disciplinary.htm
