Curious. Since many of these ladies take trips back and forth to Chna, are you guys going to stay away for a while until this thing settles down, or at least more is known about it's transmission?
Saw on the news last night that they are going to contact people who sat within 2 metres of the guy in Toronto. He came back from China on Jan 22. I was surprised to hear that it would only be people within 2 metres and not everyone on that flight since it was a long flight especially and the same air is circulated so you'd think everyone on the flight would be at risk.

Not wanting to be paranoid but I watch people too. See people on the buses and trains wiping their noses with their hand and then wiping their hands on a seat (disgusting but not great risk) or grabbing a pole by the door right after wiping their noses. Just recently. I saw some young "lady" sitting wth her feet on a seat, her boots dripping right onto the seat. People disgust me these days.

I’m not sure I’m concerned enough quite yet. Really, if I’m gunna catch the new beer flu, I’d rather catch it on a massage table over an LRT or plane.

OF's query is a reasonable one. WHO website has some basic ideas around personal defence (section titled Advice for public, once you are on the Novel Coronavirus page). The 2m or 6' rule is actually quite sound, as coughing or sneezing lobs the active virus out. Recirculated air is filtered. Hand washing is a big item on that list, something I don't feel all the Asian places practice in a disciplined fashion. It's not just the ladies returning from vacation, the question is also, how many of their clients are also recently returned. The challenge is that it appears that perhaps infections are possibly being spread during the incubation 10-12 days period when no symptoms are showing. No need for hysteria, but massage is a personal close contact business, like it is for healthcare workers. It's not the same as going grocery shopping or even to a movie theatre (who does that anyway these days?).

Hopefully the city's public health people provide refreshers to all of the spa workers. And if any place is suspect on reusing towels, or not washing them in hot water etc, I would suggest switching to places where hygiene is impeccable.

No panic, but using common sense is not such a bad thing. One of the problems, I've seen in this business is that some of the ladies will work even when they are feeling somewhat unwell, while sneezing, coughing or sniffling. This is bad.

Patient 0 was in Wuhan, and then the virus spread in January in other places.

As of now, chances are slim to none that some of these ladies have it, and it's the same chance that you or I have it. Unless they went back to Wuhan or have been in direct contact with someone from Wuhan within the past 30 days.

Also incumbent period of 14 days. If lady went back and back now, and 14 days have passed and doesn't have symptoms, likely should be ok.

I would avoid all travels to China, especially Wuhan right now.

I have been contemplating another trip to Asia in the next month. I have been there recently and over the last few years. I maintain contact with several ladies I met there and can tell you that people are very concerned. Several have asked me to ship masks to them as they are no longer able to get them locally. Personally I am going to delay my trip at least until I can see how quickly or easily the infections spread. That being said, with the easy access to travel in today's world, the Genie is out of the bottle and there really is no way to control contracting it whether it be in Asia or around the globe.

This thread has me paranoid....went to the DIY place (sorry won't name, regulars will know). New lady there never seen here was coughing abit a few times and yes she was of the ethnicity in question. I am thinking because of chinese new years one of their staff went and this lady brought in to cover....just a theory. Oh and for first time ever - at least for me - it was decidedly not DIY, wasn't even asked about it she just grabbed and started tugging lol

No more massages ,no more places with lots of people,not racists but no more China town or chinese food ,no Wemor movie theatres.Not paranoid but self quarantine until this peaks and a vaccine is found.Just being cautious,have grand children to take care of.Repeat not racists but best stay away from all these places for now

Think there is definitely some irrational reactions taking place in our cities, but that is all a personal matter for each individual to educate themselves on and then decide upon course of action. There is definitely a market condition change in Calgary. I've had 4 text messages from four different Asian providers telling me they are missing me. Ok ok, I am the loveable kind . Any such shifts in Edmonton market?

Most of the death are aimed towards elderly people. They already have health complications, and then mix in with getting coronavirus , pretty sure they will have more difficulty surviving.

There are a few young cases too and one case outside of China that died recently.

If you got weak immune system, then you should be worried if this thing hits us. If you are healthy and have strong immune system, I think you likely will survive.

I think for the guys that participate in bbbj shit, or even bbfs, likely high chance you'll catch a non Wuhan version of the coronavirus (there are 7 versions of coronavirus and SARS, MERS are the deadliest. Wuhan apparently not as bad as SARS and MERS) and also something worst than the coronavirus lol maybe STI.

The thing is the death rate for this virus is unknown. I think anywhere between 3% and possibly higher to like 10%? And it's contagious. So it's much more severe than the common cold virus.

My tip for you guys, stop asking for bbbj and don't stress the fuck out so your immune system is stronger. And get good massages and participate in healthy diet and life style to help build your immune system. Follow those rules, Pretty sure you'll be a part of the survival rate rather than the death rate.

No sense in freaking out as you say but does not hurt to be careful either. Because the incubation period can be up to two weeks and because people do not bother covering coughs and sneezes these days, it dies not hurt to be careful.
As said by health officials, right now we are in more danger of catching a flu but that is right now. This thing is spreading fast. One only has to look at the news to see that. So, once it hits here, IF it hits here...

Coronavirus, ebola, cholera, meningitis, sars, smallpox, all epidemics. Yes they do have potential to be deadly, but with social media covering the world news travels instantaneously.

Am I the only one that is noticing the use of “global crisis” becoming a common term thrown out constantly for effect. End of the day coronavirus is a flu strain that will affect those with lower immune deficiencies. If you grew up like me eating dirt off the floor, and being allowed to be active your probably not going to get it.

One of my favorites went to China for Chinese New Year celebrations and is supposed to be back soon but likely won't make it back since flights have been cancelled and even if she does come back I will probably stay away for at least 2 weeks just to be safe. I wonder if she'll make it on that Canadian Forces planes that's gonna land in Trenton ON where everyone will be quarantined, but I think that is for Canadian citizens only and I don't think she is a citizen, maybe PR but I don't think PRs are included on that CF flight
