cream, lotion, oil?

What do you use and what kind/brand?  I've always used Biotone......Herbal Select cream, Advanced Therapy lotion, Nutri-naturals lotion and oil.  I just can't seem to find one I really like.Any suggestions?

I like to keep it simple.  I use either jojoba...does not go rancid, a little goes a long way and is great for both deep tissue and swedish massage, not to mention the skin (one draw back, it has a faint smokey smell...best to mix it with something else)... http://www.hobacare.com .  Or I use fractionated coconut oil...not as much body as jojoba and doesn't last quite as long but is less expensive, super clean, doesn't go rancid and appropriate for both swedish and deep tissue massage... http://www.from-nature-with-love.comHope this helps.Cassandra

Hi , I started out using Biotone in school and I honestly cannot tolerate the smell of any biotone product, now. I use Jojoba oil from Massage warehouse. It's called Essence of Vali and it comes in many scents. My clients like Calm, and Relief best. I like Jojoba oil because it is NOT a nut oil so I don't have to worry about a nut allergy. It has a very long shelf life, and it withstands heating wich I do. Has a nice drag to it. You'll find what you like in time.

Like most of us, my school used Biotone. I had so many problems with the school's rancid sheets I vowed never to use it again!I used Almond Oil for a time... but it too left me with "stinky sheets" and stained linens.I use Lotus Touch Oil Gel from http://www.newlifesystems.comI've used it for about 4 years or so now, and I haven't had any staining problems either.  I highly recommend it.

Hi!  I use Massage Warehouse's Therapro line.  I like the Swedish lotion, but not the deep tissue lotion.  I just ordered a gallon of Soma Silk cream from them. Never tried it before, but it was 1/2 price- $30.Massage FX also makes really good products at great prices.Biotone works well, but I've smelled it enough...

I've also used Biotones Gel in class and hated it.  I can't stand the smell.  A friend went to the amta show last year and brought back samples of a brand called elta PMO.  It's a gel/oil and I love it.  It has no scent and doesn't stain my sheets.  I also got a sample of their lotion and for some students that prefer a lotion I will use that on them instead.  A couple of students got samples from the company at 1-800-633-8872.  They were nice enough to send the whole class samples of both products.I hope that helps!

I use a lotion and a creme from Natural Formulations.  I ran across them last spring and ordered one of each of their massage lotions/cremes.  I used to use Alba Botanica Advanced Massage Lotion but found it didn't work well in winter due to drier skin.  Also, I went through too much when I had to do a swedish.  Personally, I don't like oil since I tend to do deeper work.The Natural Formulations lotion I like is the MCL Ultra Glide Creme Lotion.  Absorbs well but is very workable.  The MC-10 Creme is thicker and nice in a low humidity climate or with hairier clients...or for a nice, general swedish.  These two products are unscented and have natural ingredients.  Also, the pricing is very reasonable...about $35/gallon.They also have oils, bath products and basic body lotions.  The website is http://www.natural-formulations.com is you'd like to check them out.

I don't like biotone at all.  Myself...I usually use oil.  But try any of the products from Soothing Touch.  My  customers give great reviews.  Or try Innovative Sciences Hydrasperse.

I had forgotten about the Elta PMO, but I like that,too.  You don't see it in many catalogues.My instructor faithfully uses Biotone Nutri-Naturals .  The Soma silk cream I got for 25$ (half price!) at massage warehouse is good stuff.  Washes out easily and is not fragranced.  A few drops of lavender is great in it.I like a variety, but that's just me.  I am that way with many things.  ie- I have 3 different fragrances of Palmolive under the kitchen sink.  Each time they go on sale, I debate which kind to get.Silly, I know.  Simple pleasure kinda thing I guess!

hi-- i have had great results with "massage oil plus" from terra firma botanicals. it has st john' wort oil and arnica oil in a base of sweet almond, olive, sesame and apricot kernal oils-- the herbal oils help with muscle, joint and nerve pain for both client and practitioner. it is unscented and absorbs into the skin so well that one doesn't have that greasy goopy feeling afterwards...i have been blessed with this product both as client and practitioner ---it doesn't get stinky sheetwise, either. seems like not much is needed during a massage, too. terra firma is in eugene, oregon, at 541-485-7726--- good stuff, good people.      cheers!   lots of great info from everyone--

Wow! I had no idea so many therapists disliked Biotone. I feel the need to stick up for that company a little. I absolutely LOVE their dual-purpose massage cream. I've tried lots of other products and none matches its workability for me. I use it for both swedish and deep tissue massage. My clients also love it, and many asked me how they could order it for themselves to use at home. I don't like Biotone's other products, however. I'm just a fan of the dual-purpose cream.

If you're looking for something completely natural, I recommend Solace Naturals Massage Creme (sold through Got Your Back: 1-800-677-9830). They do custom blends of oil, beeswax and essential oil. (That's all. No additives or preservatives). If you choose jojoba oil for the base, you get the benefits of jojoba with the added glide the beeswax provides. You can also add your choice of essential oils.

The only Biotone product I like is the dual purpose creme.

I am looking for a natural lotion that acts like a creme that I can use in a pump (so that I can put it in my holster). Some lotions you have to keep applying, so I'd like something that is more emolient, like a creme.

Are there holsters that support a jar of creme? I would think that would be a little difficult to use.

I also like FX creme.

I like and use FX Massage Cream, it's provided for us at work. We also get Safflower Oil from camdengrey.com (there is a $25 order minimum, FYI). I also like Jojoba Oil and Biotone Herbal Select Cream.

When I was in school we were provided with oil and lotion. I don't know what kind they were but I did not like the lotion. So I stick to oils and creams.
