Solid thinking on the difference between FL & bar work. When I asked my TaiPan girl, her biggest thing was the hours. She didnt like spending 12 hours a day at the bar. Said she made enough off just 2-3 LT's PW to live on. She shared her flat with 3 friends (so, 4 gals splittling rent), so it didnt cost much. She owned her scooter, so no payments there. Just food & rent and the occasional salon visit. Said wasnt really sure what to do long term, but didnt like working all the long hours of the beer bars. Her friend in BKK had been pressuring her to go back to hotel work in the old hotel, but the gig only paid 8K/month. Said she made more than twice that only "working" 2-3 nights per week.

I am pretty amazed at how cheaply they can live. I have no clue how someone survives on 8K/mo in Bangkok. Hell, I think I've spent that on a day's entertainment before.

I just never thought about OTOP as a place to BF a girl..most OTOP bars (in the day time at least....that's what we were discussing here) only ever seem to have two or three girls working in them so I just assumed they were there as bar staff only...must take a closer look next time I need board shorts 555

They buy cheap food from the street vendors. (presumably cheaper than us farangs pay which is cheap enough!). I can see why they do not spend a lot.

As you say 8k would probably last me a day and a half in BKK!

Hey All,

Just wondering where the best places are to get girls during the day. My visit here requires early nights, early starts plus I dont drink or smoke so hate hanging out in bars at night.

Any recommendations for places to visit that keep some hot BGs from Midday on?

I think due to my time contraints I might like to find someone and make her regular, rather than having to rush in and search over and over.

That's a good idea. There are not many places with bg's in the daytime. You might want to try the massage places during the day.

I got a massage the other day with the obligatory happy ending. The girl was just one of the one's on the streets offering massage and was average to look at. However, when I left the place I saw a stunning girl who I would have happily made a LT arrangement with.

Call me foolish but are these girls all 'available' or do they just operate out of the massage places? I'll go back and see if I can find out who she is if there is a chance for more.

There have certainly been tales of guys having LT arrangements with massage girls. It really depends on the girl and her shop. You may be asked to pay the equivalent of a barfine for each day that you have the girl with you.

Dean... question... after living there for 3 years, what is the minimum you personally could live on and maintain a lifestyle that didnt drive you nuts? As in, living minimally, but for the long haul (not a short stretch of 'going without')... just curious as to what an experienced falang could do Vs the gals the scrape by on normal wages of say, 10K baht/mo.

In order to 'extend' my visa at exactly 2 years, I had to present evidence of what I'd spent, so it was a case of simply adding up every amount of money imported to my Thai bank, and subtracting what was still left in that bank.
The figure ended up being 2,400,000 baht. Taking out the car purchase of 400,000, because a lot of expats dont have/need a car, expenditure was a million baht a year.
Now Ive settled in properly ,and have a permanent tg and very reasonable rent and no infrastructural costs,so feel like Im moderately frugal, I'd estimate I spend about 850k.
....using a calculator that equates to..... an astounding 71,000 baht a month!

I am honestly fcuked if I know how a couple could get by on a combined income of , say , 25k a month.

I've never been there in the evening...visited twice during the daytime.
I thought the standard was good. The girl that I barfined was very cute and a lot of fun.

I think that really depends on what your approach is.
If it was me and I looked at a 3 month Holiday, I would probably get the big party time out the way straight away and in that time look for a suitable place to live outside Bangala Rd area and after that treat my life a little bit like I do at home.

When I first lived in Melbourne 30 years ago straight out of the Uk, I used to live in St Kilda Beach.
It was like dying and going to heaven (much like my 1st trip to Patong) and seeing so many bars in such a small area.

After about 3 months of going to work hung over, I worked out a routine of normal nights out and big nights out. If I lived over in LOS, I think I would have to do the same. I am not blessed with a never ending bank balance or being 30 years younger, so would have to make compromises somewhere along the line.

I think reading here and from what I have seen over my 6-7 visits to Thailand, there are some that can do that and enjoy a good life, but also a lot of people who might start out that way, but very quickly go the other way.

For me personally, I do not think I would want a full on relationship there the same as I am in here in Aus. In saying that if I met a TG who you can call up if you wanna go and eat, drink, go to the beach or whatever and the she is of the same feeling, then I am all for that.

But to me no more than that, as long as that is understood from the outset, there should be no problems. If that situation changed in the way of feelings from either side, then as long as it is understood that it has to be bought out in the open when it happen, I think it should work for both sides.

In saying that In think I would be looking someone a bit older than some of the younger bar girls I have seen over there. I am not blessed with a great deal of patience so do not think I could handle all of the younger BG crap that goes on.

I personally need to have some sort of connection with who I am with, a lot of people are different and good luck to them, that is just me.

Living there any longer for me than 3 months at a time is out of the question at present. I have work that I can do from anywhere in the world that I can get income from, but have not got the finances to do it for the longer visa's.

Personally I would like to try at sometime, but not just yet.

Without trying to sound negative, because your aim is a good one, achieving this is very near impossible here.
This is because of a number of reasons, most pervasive being Thai womens working hours.
( if she doesnt work, where does she get her money from?)
An office /shop girl will be working from 9 or 10am for 10 hours , 6 days a week. She will be getting home at 8pm or so, and if shes older and more sensible, she wouldnt dream of going out anywhere with a work day next.....so there goes 'lunch' for sure, but dinner may extend to 2 nights a week....
I doubt she'd be continuing things if you had 2 or 3 'friends' to eat with the other nights.
Nice ladies the world over react like that.
Further, most Thai ladies of all denominations would consider the outings/dinner date as a waste of time, like Western women they would want their 'efforts' to be heading in a particular direction, romance, love, at minimum cohabitation, and a chance to have a life without having to work 60 goddammed hours a week for a pittance.
Further, a more mature lady will invariably have kids. These will inevitably require time and money. Cynics would add, "their time, and your money" but if the kids were local , then a good woman worth her salt would naturally want to spend her day off with them.
I realize that your 'going to the beach ' is just an example, but Ive yet to meet one who isnt outraged by the idea! 55

My tg has just finished up work, and Im as happy as Larry....Ive got my mate back to go to the market and mall with, Ive got my hot breaky back on the table and my shirts pressed, weve got afternoon delight. Shes got time again and life is happily boring. Time to visit the baan again, and time to have a holiday....
