if so, how do you drape it and do your clients like it? i was thinking about making my own but i can't figure out how i would cover it/drape it so that the clients skin wouldn't actually touch it but i'm wondering how you cover it and have the breast not still get "squished" from the sheet not allowing the breast to "fall" inside. ok, i know this is a terrible description but i can't figure out how to express what i'm trying to ask. hope this makes sense! basically, i want to know how the breast can rest inside of the provided area if there is a sheet covering the space. ok...maybe that's better. HELP! thanks...

I have thought the same thing! I can't invest in a new table with the breast recess comfort zone (Oakworks) so usually I've used a small pillow for clients to lay on. I saw the more narrow pillows with those squishy beads inside and wonder if that would be more comfortable?

Put it into a matching pillow case & use on top of the fitted sheet. The size seems to be appropo to fill a pillowcase. Making your own would be very easy. Use an electric carving knife to cut thick foam (can usually find these at places like Kmart & Target for under $10). You can even carve the tapering angles! I used one during an ahshiatsu session (very necessary for those with even some chest!!!). It was homemade - looked ridiculous, but if it had been in a pillow case beforehand, I would have never known the difference.

Hello, I purchased that item and it was not comfortable for me. I've been ordering several pads from different places and the one I'm keeping and all my clients love is from http://www.positivetouch.org It's really a piece of material covered foam with two breast cut outs. I slip a pillowcase in it and lay it on the sheet and, Wha Laa....instand comfort! It comes in two sizes a two inch and a three inch in height. I ordered the smaller of the two. My clients really love it.
If you were handy, you could cut a piece of foam this way but I'm not handy that way.

thank you all so much. i have actually had the foam sitting in my house for about 6 months. i never even thought to just cut out 2 holes. well, time to go play around with it and find a pillow case to see if it works! thanks again!!!

Good luck Terab. Your clients will love you for this! And I place it on the table for everyone. I figure it's none of my business to judge if someone needs to use this breast piece. Many people have breast tenderness at different times and I just introduce this new item and explain how they can position it to their liking and if they don't find it comfortable, they can throw it on the floor and I'll know it was not for them, when I come into the room. So far, 3 months, many clients, one pillow throw.

This was a great thread, I think i might goet one off that site lovely_day went to thy look nice. Do you ise the 2 or 3 inch one i would think when you get a small woman in there it may give them excess curvature in the lumbar area, what do you tink? Do you give them a choice between the two?

I purchased the smaller of the two but I could easily suggest the bigger. After all, if you're bigger, the larger one will accomodate more! Sometimes it helps to know your regular clients. If I'm seeing someone for the first time and I can see they have large breasts, I explain the pillow to them and they are delighted to think someone thought of that!
As of now, no one has complained of low back pain from this. The foam compresses down and really just gives support to the breasts. If anyone has come in with low back pain, I place a folded flat sheet on the table and instruct them to lay on table so the folded sheet is under their pelvis to give a lift to their lower curve. They also emjoy this.

Great suggestions, I'm gonna head over to the fabric store this weekend to get some foam. I think I'll go with the 3" pillow and taper the edges. I have so many clients that have to fidget when they fist lay face down to get comfortable. Being rather large chested myself, been there & done that!

I don't use it for every female client but do use it for those clients that are either more "endowed" or for whatever reason have sensitive breasts. The feedback from my clients has been all positive.

I tested out the one from Postive Touch and wasn't that impressed. I didn't like the fact that it is so square. The comfort bolster that I have is tapered so there's no "drop off"

well since this post has been "revived" i'll update and say that i purchased this bolster and what a waste of $$. i never use it. i hate it. it's not at all comfortable and where it lands on the "neck" makes it very uncomfortable. feels like it is poking me in the throat. i wish i would not have bought it. oh well, live & learn.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I have one of the double-tilt face cradles so what I do when I use the bolster is to raise the face cradle up so the head and neck are lifted high enough to make the client comfortable. I normally raise it up for clients that are large breasted anyway so I automatically did it when using the bolster.

I have the bolster from positive touch, the 3 inch one. I also have the tummy bolster. I offer the breast bolster to larger breasted women. I have one client who uses it all the time. She calls it her "hootie holder." I have another client who was coming in by me about 6 times a year for a year. She finally told me her low back would always get sore when she was prone. So, I have her use the breast bolster AND the tummy bolster and this has solved the problem. She now uses these bolsters all the time. Just in case she would get uncomfortable, I work herarms and her legs (front and back) while she is supine. She has recently started coming in for 90 minute sessions, so she is face down with this bolster system for about 20 to 25 minutes of her session, about the same as in an hour session when I work the back of her legs and her arms while prone.

This was a "try it to see if it works" option before having her go to a side lying position, and it worked.

And yes, you need a good adjustable face cradle as these bolsters raise the client up quite a bit.

I keep two eggcrate pads on my table, as well as a thin temperpedic pad & a wool topper too. In order to create my own "comfort glide" zone, I cut out two "channels", (rather than holes) in one of the two bottom eggcrates. This allows for me to have the depth to not only do a
long glide up the back, (from under the body) but it also
gives a nice allowance for women to let "the girls" feel
comfy too. It would be equally easy to cut out a rounded
tummy hole, for pregnant clients that way too.

The best part is that the eggcrate pads are inexpensive and easily covered by standard size twin sheets. This
arrangement also means your clients are not raised up
anymore than they normally would be and the upper back
remains in a more natural position as well.

Well, I tried the bolster from Massage Warehouse. It's actually made by Earthlite. Here's a photo:

On the plus side, the breast recesses are comfortable, and the bolster does fit into a pillow case. The downside (which is a big one) is that the thick end of the bolster has a straight edge that cuts into the neck. I have a Deluxe Adjustable Face Cradle that helps a little, but doesn't take away the choking sensation altogether. I think I'm going to remove the bolster from the vinyl case & try to curve that edge. I don't understand why they made this with a straight edge. Massage tables all have curved foam on the ends, for just this reason!

I like that Breast Rest because you can leave it on your table and simply remove the disc. Notice how they have the neck "cutout" to address that choling sensation at the neck.
It seems like it would be a little cumbersome to replace the disc when you turn them over. I wonder if you could just leave it out...
