The cops in TJ have their guns back. They are not known to jump into a fight to break it up.

The "preventative" police in TJ (White Cars) are armed security guards with powers of arrest. Yes, eityher Burt or Sancho did a very good summary on the structure of the cop shop. The cops with white shirts are "auxilliary" police or "reserves" and they are not armed but are every bit as arrogant.

If you are a "really big black guy," just dont look like a "really big black gang member from LA" but instead look like a "really big black guy who maybe works for the phone company," and you should be fine. I see black dudes in the Zona and around TJ and they seem to be doing just fine.

Along with the municipal police, we have the federal preventive police, state preventive police, and other police agencies doing the investigations. Maybe in L.A. there's trouble. But as far as I know blacks have never been treated bad in the resort / tourist areas of Mexico.

What you are right about KT, is it's all about the money. Plain and simple, it is just not good business to let the cheese dicks run around with impunity. The Zona is a safe place. That said, if you want to find a world of trouble and hurt, it's readily available there. And equally so in cities throughout the world. The Zona that you claim to deal with is not what I have found to be true.

Don't expect a TJ cop to come to anybody's rescue if you are getting stabbed or jumped by alot of dudes. Tj cops don't carry guns, they are not going to risk their lives for someone they don't know. When im in TJ i know im on my own and with i am with. I don't see the TJ cops as my protectors ,i see them as criminals.

You guys just don't understand how the TJ cops operate. Do you think a cartel member is going to rescue a tourist if they are getting stabed or jumped ? no way !!

I have yet to see the tuff surenos, but just the ones that hang out around the corner of Constitution and Coahuila and around La Tropa....they are cowards and the police enjoy fucking with them more than anyone else...that is why you normally see them in the doorway of the hotel, so they can run up the stairs...Those guys are much more of a problem in the States then they are in Zona Norte...They though are quick to tell you they are Surenos and show their #13, but much quicker to run when they see the police

From what I've seen in the Zona, it's the cops that own the place. Seems that nothing they don't want to put up with happens there, and if it does, is swiftly handled with overwhelming force. I've been left with the impression that they don't care much for punks with attitudes. I've yet to see a banger, or group of, that thought they were ready to go mano a mano with the big dogs. It's also rumored that some of the clubs and hotels are laundry mats for the cartel's finances. If those rumors are true, one would think that the cops would have more reason to keep the Zona a happy place, and punk street bangers would shy away from pissing on the sidewalk. They may not be the brightest bulbs on the xmas tree, but few walk with a death wish for very long before it's answered.

Mexican can hate blacks,gringos,Asians,Arabs etc. But their is a gang warfare between Chicano gangs and black gangs. If you are a black male and get stuck in a Mexican barrio in the USA,you could lose your life.

they immigrate to American they uphold that tradition.
Yet when us greengos come to Mexico they act like we
should tip them for everything. They even screw over there
own kind. I have a friend who is mexican and a waiter and he
hates mexicans who come in to eat. He said," fucking mexicans
they never tip..." and he is MEXICAN.....sounds pretty screwed
up to me....Yeah mexicans hate black people. I have both mexican
and black friends and I asked my mexican friend why mexicans hate
black people and he said its because they view them as lazy people.

Yeah, I don't think blacks guys would have any problems in the zona, unless your a blood or crip, and you are walking one of the most dangerous streets in the world, ART 123( 1st street) and the Mexican gang bangers from the US see you! But really there are lot of black guys in Adelita's who have no trouble getting laid, and if you stick to the main areas, it's perfectly safe.

Regarding racism, yes there will be a small perceneforum.xxxe of racist Mexican whores, who won't want to service someone who is black, for a variety of reasons, mostly like based on myths or gossip from other bar girls. However, by the same token, there will be a few Mexican hookers, who will want to go upstairs with a black guy, because they never been with one before, and they heard positive myths and rumors about them. But by and large most of the chicas will only consider how much money you have, and won't care about your skin color, because they do everyone, whites, blacks, Asians, and Mexicans from the states and Mexico.

I would say that White American gringos by an overwhelming amount are the best tippers in the world, and the most generous taking care of people who service them. I'm not the only one who says this, as it's common knowledge that US citizens are the best tippers in the world. One of my first jobs I had was a Casino Dealer, and in casinos, you see everybody, and American whites are the best tippers, now that's not to say a white guy won't stiff you, and there are Asian and blacks gamblers who are great tippers, but they don't make up the majority of people who tip in casinos. ( if you ever get stuck in an Asian pit dealing paigow, or Baccarat, your in for a long night especially if you keep your own tips, because your not getting shit, but a few dollars on tie bets)

Internet gambling is ok, but I think most people enjoy the excitement of winning or losing, and it's mostly losing with other people around, as we are social animals.

Now mongering is a lone sport, between you and a provider. So it's great if someone goes with you the first time to Tijuana, but really it's not needed, and most mongers don't tell others of their hobby.

Upinya...for what it is worth, I don't think this is a dumb question.

Racism is everywhere. Sadly, there are people in both TJ and US who "let it be know" they don't like blacks.

However, I don't think you have too much to worry about. Blacks are a common sight in the ZN, and don't seem to have safety issues.

My advice to most newbies--black, white, Asian, purple, green, etc.--is to make your first trip(s) in the afternoon and early evening before it gets dark. Going with a friend is always safer (especially in the beginning) but the danger isn't so great that you can't go solo.
