This was sparked by a couple of pricing and price war comments in recent threads, and also my recent trip to TO where prices have dropped.
Last month, visited 5 different downtown TO MPAs, most of them still started out at $280 all-in, but quickly drop to $200 all-in as soon as I gave them that "are you kidding" look, "oh you regular, $200 all-in"; they call it "all-in" there, lol. Two sessions were with 20 something, "omg, why cant we have MPAs like you in Edmonton" college girls. Virtually every studio I walked in (shortly after the dinner hours), all of the ladies were just sitting there waiting, every place seems to be extremely slow, most places, I was the ONLY customer all hour. Also, previously limited service places are now offering the full meal deal.
A not so funny conversation:
Naive me: "oh, I didnt think anyone offered that at this spa" (remembering from a year ago)
20ish slim pretty Asian MPA: "I don't for _insert color_ customers but I do for others, these days, customers will walk out immediately if I say no to ..."
I actually felt a little sad for her, with her looks, she should have been able to make a great living without offering the full menu. Also sad that your skin color still matters these days.
In Edmonton, I am still paying $220-$240 to my regulars, $300 once when I temporarily lost my sanity for a drop dead gorgeous blonde bombshell. Lately, for a couple of visits, I paid $200 to a southside Asian micro BUT the quality of the ladies and massage is no where close to what I experienced in TO. Based on Albertaman's earlier post, I guess I may still be overpaying. I will not try to reduce my fees to my regulars but I am trying to get a sense as to whether I should go see more new SPs who may be offering more for the same price.
Are you experiencing increased level of services and lower fees from newcomers these days?
