In mid-March, Massage Envy franchisees gathered to recognize and celebrate their locations’ outstanding wellness professionals at the brand’s 2025 Annual Performance Summit, where the national award program winners were announced. The awards recognize franchisee’s employees across the country that demonstrate the Massage Envy brand’s core values of optimism, gratitude, excellence, consistency, and empathy.

Celebrated as National Therapist of the Year was Peter Wang, massage therapist at the Massage Envy franchised location in Wildomar, California. Location manager Ashlee Williams shared, “Peter is a shining example of what it means to show up for your clients and the rest of the clinic. He knows how important it is to shape and guide these students into confident therapists, and he has poured everything he has into showing them how to make a lasting career with a Massage Envy franchised location.”
We got the inside scoop from Peter about his career as a licensed massage therapist and his experience working at a Massage Envy franchised location.
Q: How many years have you worked at a Massage Envy franchised location?
A: I have worked for Massage Envy for 15 years. All 15 outstanding years have been spent at the Wildomar franchise in Southern California, with many more to come.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at a Massage Envy franchised location?
A: I enjoy working at Massage Envy because it’s the number one brand in the industry. The network of therapists from all clinics helps represent top-notch, top-tier therapists. There is no other brand I would be as proud to represent.
Q: After working in the massage therapy field for so many years, what made you choose to stay with Massage Envy for so long?
A: My franchised location in Wildomar, CA is home to me. Over the last 15 years, I have had the privilege of working with so many great therapists, estheticians, front desk associates, and managers. These people are not only my co-workers, but they also have all become my family. I look forward to coming to work every day because this is where I belong.
In addition to having the best staff to work with, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with and help the most extraordinary clients. Without their dedication and commitment, I would not have been able to achieve the success I have today. So, to all my clients, “THANK YOU!”

Q: How would you describe the connections you’ve made while working at your franchised location?
A: The connections I have made over the years have exceeded any expectations I ever had. I’ve developed a family-type relationship with my core staff and dedicated clients. The love and support offered here is by far more than you can ask for. I’ve even had the opportunity to create a strong connection with my district/area managers, as well as with some of the awesome people from the corporate team. We’re all part of this large community and family. There’s no better company to be part of.
Q: How has working at Massage Envy helped you build your skills and continue to grow as a massage therapist?

A: Working atMassage Envy has provided me with many opportunities to take free CE courses. I’ve taken a handful of the courses offered, whether as a refresher or to help introduce me to new techniques to add to my massage tool bag. It has definitely helped me evolve into the successful massage therapist I am today.
Q: Is there a day or specific experience that you can recall where you felt especially proud of the work that you do?
A: The list of “proud” experiences is endless. On a daily basis, I discover new reasons to be proud of the work I do. That is the beauty of being a massage therapist. One outstanding example is when I was given the opportunity to work with a client who was 18 months post stroke at the time. By the end of the session, he experienced an increased range of motion in his left upper/lower extremities and had made far more progress than before seeing me. The look of relief and the sound of his voice when he thanked me has left a profound effect on my mindset when I reflect on why I became a massage therapist. He continues to come in for routine bodywork, and his progress has been astonishing!
Q: What advice can you share regarding how to have a successful massage therapy career?
A: You cannot take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself. Practice meditation and yoga. Develop an effective workout routine at the gym. I often share that I view my career the same way a professional athlete views theirs, so I motivate myself to train to be the best massage therapist in the treatment room.
Also, massage therapy is a never-ending career of learning. Keep an open mind about learning new techniques so you can have a large arsenal to choose from. Strive to be better and strive to be great. When you realize massage therapy is your purpose, your world and journey will be filled with endless opportunities.
Q: Do you have anything else that you would like to share about your experience working at a Massage Envy franchised location?
A: My experience at Massage Envy has been a blessing. I am grateful for having the opportunity to start my career here. I am also thankful for all my coworkers that have supported me throughout the years and helped me to get where I am today.
I also would like to thank my beautiful wife and amazing kids for being my number one fans from day one. They inspire me daily and continue to motivate me to be the best that I can be.
