Feedback on 3 budapest clubs

I was 2 days ago in the table dance club MARILYN in Baross utca 1 or 2.
A lot of girls, in the darkness inside the bar beautiful ones. Inside the bar you can only talk to them and touching a little. If you are lucky you can talk them into visiting you at your hotel after their working shift.
Very low price for your beer and NO entrance fee and no minimum charge.
So it was ok.

2 clubs one of them which is called calligula closed down by police when I was there. It must have been one hell of a dodgy place.

In Jet club the girls were also very pushy sucker17. Never liked this kind of attitude towards customers.

Hi there, even though it's a long time since I first visited Budapest, I'll give some info that might be of interest. I had been used to Prague and I must admit that coming to Budapest was a real shocker. The club mafia is everywhere, and there's a LOT of scam. One that I really can recommend is Hallo bar (Kiraly Utca 65). I went there several times, free entrance, no scam. I went with this beautiful brunette to a nearby hotel for one hour and it costed me about 33000 HUF at the time (2002). A bit expensive, but I got what I payed for. Check out their website

We also went to another strip joint/brothel called Afrodite. This one is ok, but we didn't stay long cause the girls were so pushy. We were asked by two girls (stunners) that were in our hotel if we wanted to go with them to another club by taxi. The club was Nirvana. Luckily I had heard so many people warning me about this club. It seems that they claim it's free entrance but you get a MEGA-bill when you exit the club. All clubs on Vaci Utca is to be avoided. Stay away!

does anybody out there know anything about the cluster of strip clubs on Erzsebet krt. between the Corinthia Hotel Royal and the Oktogon. i think there's one called Hallo ... can't remember what the others are called. are these to be avoided, like the ones on Vaci Utca?

I stayed in Budapest for 5 days and visited 3 striptease clubs.

1) Akropolis

From the outside it looks like a good place. After some chat with the guy outside the club he agreed to let us in for free to check out the place. it was Saturday night and the place was completely empty. The moment we stepped in 2-3 girls stormed us asking us to stay. I had a look inside and it looked like a nice place but never actually sat down to order something so am not sure if its a scam place, I don't think it is. They offer full escort service and the girls range from hardly average ones to couple of stunners.
We stayed in there for 3-4mins and decided to leg it for no specific reason. Afterwards we asked some tourists who had visited it and they said that the place offered them a legit service.

Recommened: Maybe but be vigilant in case there was a scam we didn't notice.

2) JET club

This is a new club that opened only a month ago. We checked a flyer in a reputable tax advertising this club and we decided to go there. We figured that since its new it can't be that bad (hopefully)
Once we got in we came across with a decent looking club but the smoke was so much that if you ain't a smoker your voice will get screwed as mine did. Obviously they have no ventilation. We did settled in this time. There were a few customers inside. The stuff seemed "friendly" but I can see them being bad if you don't pay. Also they kept giving some weird looks at us.
They brought us the menu and the prices seemed hardly "ok". 1800F for a beer.
Too bad for us we didnt check the first page thoroughly and we got ripped off.
On the top it says in kinda small letters: There is a minimum drinking consuption of 18,000F/ 70 euro . and on the bottom: Please check the menu carefully before you order. Since I dont drink a lot, for my 1 beer and tap water i paid 70E

I guess many like us haven't noticed this (the waitress mentioned nothing ofcourse) and ended up paying quite a lot unless you can drink enough and get your moneys worth.

The drinks we had seemed dodgy. The beer was ok but the still glass bottled water i ordered obviously had been used before. It seemed as if they just put tap water in but charge it a premium. My friend got 2 bayleys and he commented that that both were "weak".

Most of the girls were very good looking but they no shit from dancing. They are obviously not strippers but prostitutes. They just moved their bodies left and right. Also they are supposed to offer escort services since if you pay for some wine for 40,000F/200E they said that they will come to your hotel for 1 hour full programme. Can't comment about that since after falling for the first subtle scam i didnt feel like giving more money to them.
Private dance costs 10,000 to 20,000F for 1 person. I don't know how long the money last for.

Recommended: It seems that you won't get scammed but still I wouldn't go back. I could sense some dodgyness. Better avoid it for more straight forward/honest establishments.


3) 4Playlounge - VIII, Jozsef Krt 60.

This is really an excellent place which opened 3 months ago. We seen an advert about this place on a tourists map and it seemed ok. The advert said thats its western managed and owned and we liked that. We went outside the club and stayed there for a while so that we can ask some locals to tell us if this is a good joint or not. We do this for all clubs and seems to be a good strategy.

Luckily one of the guys that was about to get in and we talked to was the manager of the place. We told him that we are looking for a good club with no hidden scams etc. He seemed very accomodating. We got in for free because of the flyer we took from the near by internet massageplanete and the manager explained to us the basic things we need to know. The place was nearly empty. We sat next to the stage and the manager called the girls which they dutyfully stormed us. There were 6 girls. I liked most of them in terms of their behaviour and body but 1 one of them was hardly average with a very poor ass though she was only 24 and she kinda begged me for privata dance. Also she kept assuming that am into her which i didn't like. Her conduct was very superficial for a punter like me.

The girls aren't top models but they are good enough. None of them offers escort services. Maybe they would if you lay out some serious cash.

The manager kept checking on us to make sure that we are satisfied. Also the prices were very good. 1000F for a beer. 7,000F(7mins) for a private dance (touching allowed if the girls likes you) and 12,000F(15mins) for 2 guys. Very good prices if you ask me. We had a private dance and the girl and the service was excellent.
After a while i told the guy to send the girls away since me and my friend wanted to stay alone and he immediately fulfilled my request. Also because i didn't take my camera with me the manager took some pics with his and couple of days later he sent them to my email.

I have been to many places in my life and I don't remember receiving better service by someone who knew what must be done in order for your business to flourish. Very professional.

Advice: Avoid the scam taxi drivers and the clubs they recommend. Always call for one.
