finch/mccowan karaoke

There is a chinese restaurant karaoke bar one block east of finch/mccowan in scarborough.

its hours are 9pm to 3am.

they have been shut down on and off throughout the years...don't know why.

there is also a poster of those japanese honeys that are involved with car races or shows. also, since it is a bar, only age 19 and up sign on the door.....i'm not 100% sure, but i think they've had to close down b/c they served to minors.

does anybody know anything about this place?

I don't even know if this belongs on the massage section. Fred, move to whichever section you think is correct please.

i don't know anything about this place...is it a legit karaoke bar? or is something fishy going on here?

Ive wondered about that place too, a friend of mine used to have a hair salon in the same plaza there and she went to see what was up there and it was always closed anytime she went by but it seemed to her that there were people in it.

the one k-tv that comes to mind is located on sheppard between mccowan & markham. (not on finch).
It's called Canton Karoke and I know for a fact that they have quite a large selection of girls.

But the k-tv experience is much more expensive and less fulfilling than what most people look for over here...
SO i would not recommend it.

(and i highly doubt they would cater to non-asians)

i walked by at like 5pm and there were people at the bar setting up or something like that.

i just think it's a little suspicious over there.

the one at makrham and sheppard is canton karaoke and yes, i have seen some girls go in and only asian guys go in.

i'd imagine it's very expensive in there....and i have no clue what goes on in there, could be something, could be nothing...

i don't know anything about the karaoke business? does anyone out there know?

nothing sexual actually goes on in a ktv bar... all you basically get is a cheap feel.

But the selection of girls is usually quite good (the majority of girls working at Canton are pretty, young, and in ESL schools around the GTA).

The ktv essntially provides a place where you can meet hot, money-oriented chicks with whom you can negotiate a further rendez-vous outside of the bar...

typically... the ktv charges u about $40 / hr for the each girl (on top of regular room charges)... so a regular night out for 2 guys... 2 girls... and about a dozen beers might run onwards of $300 after 2 hrs.
The fee for actual sexual activity is flexible and can range from 0 (yeah right) to whatever u are willing to pay (i've had friends who paid > 5k)

the way it works is that you go into the ktv and get a room.
The room fee covers for equipment + some drinks.

If you want a girl you'll have to ask the mamisan for one... The girls will be paraded into your room one after the other... you go thru them until you are satisfied by one and settles on her.

At canton... the girl gets paid a flat rate regardless so she doesn't get an incentive to booze u up further. But if you work out the final room fees... you'll see that each girl costs about $40/hr.

Keep in mind that the girls are only there for "conversation" and for "singing"... You gotta think it's a pretty expensive way to get a phone #.

It's good fun, but do not expect much.

Karaoke bars (or KTV as Taiwanese people call it) with "PR" girls are not worth it folks !!!

Do not even try it ... you will only kick yourself in the head ... FS is the way to go ...

BTW, in Hong Kong "PR" stands for "Public Relations" ... guess its more of a cultured and civilized way of refering to the girls who work at Karaoke bars who do "things" ...

After all it really is good "public relations" when you can offer "that" kind of service to your customers ... hehehehe

If your a white dude your probably not going to be offered this "service" unless you go with a yellow dude.

Of course a karaoke bar is a social place. But the karaoke bars that we are specifically talking about obviously is for "this type of activity". There are other karaoke bars that are more then willing and are more then welcome anyone no matter who the hell you are. Its just a place for a good time and sing some tunes ... now, if these regular karaoke bars did not cater to non-Asians, then I would agree with you that they were racist. But yet, the ones we are talking about are not those normal ones ...

I have to disagree with you though. Asians are very concerned about the thing called "shame". Asians value honor very highly, sometimes even more then their lives. There has been many instances that businessmen in Hong Kong would rather commit suicide jumping off a building then to admit defeat. Just like the Japanese who rather cut their belly then to surrender ...

So culture has a huge thing to do with it ...
