Great relaxing candle scent

This really isn't a massage technique per say, but I just got a really great candle for my massage room and thought I would share. If you have heard of the Yankee candle line (its really big here down south) they sell it at Linens and Things and Bed Bath and Beyond. I just got the Pumkin Pie scent and it is awesome. It gives such a warm and cozy scent to my room. Everyone loves it and I had to give the other therapists some of them for their rooms too!(got it in tea lights) Anyway, its a discontinued scent from last month so it is on discount not which is cool. Anyway, I love great candles for massage and thought maybe some of you do too.

I have not tried Yankee's Pumpking Pie.  I've been making my own candles since the beginning of the year.  Soy candles.  I made a whole bunch of pumpkin pie scented ones a few months ago, but don't burn them during a massage.  Food scents tend to make my tummy go grrrrrrroooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwllllllll

My most favorite sent from them is Spiced Pumpkin, I actually smelled the pumkin pie one today and it had a lighter scent, but was still good.Just bought a votive warmer/melter.  I am not sure really what it is called.  You plug it in, place a votive candle in a glass container (provided) and the place it into the warmer.  It actually melts the votive and releases the scent.  Pretty cool that you can get the candle scent without lighting the candle.  They also make bigger ones that melt the larger candles.  Works well!

yes masthera,i have one of the bigger ones and i think it's called a smelter.  i actually sell them in my office (therefore you'd think i would definitely know what it was called)i love it.  i don't like burning candles.  i'm one of the clustsy people who would problably light something on fire in my office if i burned them.  i really like this 'cause you get the scent of the candle without the flame.

I love to burn candles...my room is big and I burn 5 or 6 at a time...I like the ocean scents...my second fave is garden smells...I like them to burn evenly and not put off alot of smoke and to have even scent smell throughout the candle...if you go to target you can even find scented tealights...

There are a bunch of variations to tart burners.  You have an option of buying the one that uses a lightbulb to melt the wax.  There is also one that you can use a tealight. And the last option that I know of are candle warmers similar to this

Michael's craft stores has cozy-up warmers that you can find on sale occasionally.  3 for $10.  You just simply place one of your jar candles onto the warmer.  As the wax melts, the scent is released.  Once the scent is gone that's it.  The wax does not burn off, only the scent.  Anyway, a clutsy person will always be that.  I know.  I am a cluts, too!  If you use the wickless candles, make sure you don't spill any water into the wax, it could POP.  AND make sure you don't knock over the container once it has melted.  BIG MESS! (speaking from experience)

For those of us in Texas and Louisiana, I hope you have all heared of Granny Pat's candles. They are outstanding! They come in a mason jar and last forever. When I first got one, I was kind of skeptical. I never really liked candles, because they always smelled strong before they were lit, then never really put off a scent after that. Well, I bought a Granny Pat's Pumpkin Pie candle for only $3 back in September and it is still in use today. It fills the room with a warm, comforting, somewhat strong smell. My clients LOVE it. I alternate between that one and a Blueberry Cobbler candle, and have received nothing but compliments on how well it makes the entire office smell. By entire office, I mean the entire clinic. My office smells great, but you can also smell it down the hallway and into the reception area. A+++++!

It is probably one of the crafters handpoured and handcrafted candles.  A great chandler will always have excellent quality candles.  They take pride in their work as do we.  Craft season is nearing it's end, but if you look around places you may be able to find a local candlemaker's candles somewhere.  It doesn't have to be Granny Pat's.

Dollz is right, she hand-crafts them. She doesn't have a website, but I've got her 800 number, and she has told me before that she will ship anywhere in the US. I think now her prices are $4/candle, or 3 for $10. Yankee Candles ARE THE BOMB!!!  I first encountered them in South Dakota...I really enjoy MANY of their scents:  Vanilla, Coffee scents, Fresh Cut Grass, Cucumber Melon and others.  I also enjoy other companies too...But I have to agree TOO with GreatKat2...Yes...Yankee Candles are a WONDERFUL line...though if I burned Spiced Pumpkin while trying to BE involved in FOCUSED THERAPIES it would BLOW my concentration...so I would be prone to blow that candle out if it found its way into my Therapy Room...It'd make me wanna stop the therapy and Chow Down...I do Like a nice Hazelnut Candle burning or Vanilla when I am performing therapies.  Nice Thread GreatKat2!!!

Great relaxing candle scent

Another great smelling candle is from Bath and Bodyworks...Eucelyptus Spearmint.  :Wow! Never smelled anything like it. Its wonderful as a muscle relaxant.When I was in school my fiance first bought this scent for me in the massage oil. I used it on my practice clients. Now when I catch a wif of this scent it brings me back to the early days of massage school... Funny how scent and the brain works ;D

A really good brand is Ambria candles.  Their scents are relaxing and fill the room quickly after lighting.  They are also quite cheap.  However; Wal-Mart stopped carrying them because one of Ambria's poppouri things could catch on fire.  I wish they had stopped selling those and not the entire line.If anyone knows how I can order these candles or where to find them, PLEASE let me know!!

I make my own beeswax candles, without added scent they smell like honey.  Or if a client is particular to an essential oil, I add a couple drops to the candle.  One of my favorite scents is a combo of jasmine, sandlewood and patchouli, or lavendar with lime.Did you guys read the article on candles in Massage & Bodywork, Oct/Nov 04 issue?

I know how some of the odder smelling candle scents can affect me at times...but there are two I have found that are fresh. Meadow Mist and Storm Watch (both put out by YANKEE) are nice.  Meadow Mist reminds me a lot of Fresh Cut Grass.  Its a fresh scent and I think its a newer scent.  Storm Watch is a bit unexplainable...its not my ALL TIME FAVORITE...but its good if you happen to like it.  Between the two Meadow Mist is the better   My opinion....but here are some scents that can at least be tried  Check 'em out...let me know what ya think if you want.
