Help with a choice?

I was going to take a hot stone class at the school I'm currently attending for Shiatsu. The class was canceled because there weren't enough people. I was told they would hold the class in February instead. I'm not sure if I want to wait that long. My boss is offering to teach me for a price.

Here's the decision...
Take the class with the school: $190 for 16 hrs (2 days) in a class of at least 8 people, and I'd have to wait 2 months.
Take the class with my boss: $225 for 3 Hrs (1 day) one on one, right after thanksgiving. She told me she can extend it a bit if I'm having trouble with it.
Find another class.

What do you guys think?

There seems to be several things going on here. The chance to take it NOW, a $35 price difference, one-on-one vs. group, and (maybe) a professional instructor who knows how to teach vs. someone who knows the material and can coach you personally.

What stands out as being what works best for you?

One other consideration is do you need & want the CEUs which the longer class would provide, vs a one day class - for which you probably wouldn't get the same CEU credits?

I think that often private tutoring can be very beneficial.
It really depends on the qualifications, experience and abilities of the instructor.
Typically a class will cost $20-$30 per ceu or hour and you will also be supplied with course material.

I am not familiar with your boss and so can not evaluate what the quality of the education would be and what it would be worth to you.

FWIW - I showed a colleague hot stone massage techniques that I use and instructed her on general safety issues - about 3 hrs - and did not charge her a dime.
Also - when I have been an employee at an establishment where I needed instruction on equipment, product or technique that was provided at no cost.

Just me - but I would decline the owners offer and go for the professional instruction.

I know of lots of cases where clients were burned by hot stones. It's not pretty. The primary culprit (according to MY sources): poor training.

Get the 16 hour professional training. Quality is worth waiting for.

Also, there are no sites which charge for requesting information about schools. It's like saying water is "Gluten Free" Well, it's ALWAYS gluten free.

You have alienated me and made me feel terrible.

I'm not nearly influential enough to "alienate" you from an entire community. I pointed out some facts, and you chose to "feel terrible" about it. Unfortunately, how you feel does not change those facts.

Instead of telling the OP to click your link, you could engage in the conversation by asking where they are attending school. With that, you could then use the resources at your disposal to locate potentially helpful information and post it in this thread. That little bit of extra effort would help show that you have some degree of caring for the OP and his/her problem, and would be genuinely helpful. That's what normal people (not intent on sell-spam-market activities) do here.

Also, you missed a HUGE opportunity to showcase how useful and effective your site's resources can be. Instead of providing us with a solid example of how your site can be useful, you just posted a link. "Click my link" posts are much weaker advertising and IMO are almost always annoying. They may have a place somewhere on the internet, but MassagePlanetL isn't it.

Just be a human and post like one. Interact like a caring, knowledgeable individual who understands this kind of work. If you're an MT, act like a colleague instead of a sales-bot. We're not just here to be a target market. We all have real concerns, complicated lives, and competing priorities. We share bits of our lives here because we perceive that MassagePlanetL is frequented by many like-minded people that we can identify with, learn from, and be amused by.

Casting all of that aside to just focus on a sales pitch is missing the forest for a single tree.
