State officials ordered the owners of Sweetness Spa, located on the city's north side, to halt operations effective April 22.
SAN ANTONIO — A north-side San Antonio massage establishment was closed following an investigation into alleged human trafficking, according to officials.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has ordered Guixan Han and Golden Phoenix Holdings LLC, the owner and operator or Sweetness Spa, also known as "QQ Spa" or "Wang's Spa" — to halt operations effective April 22.
TDLR said it received a complaint of alleged human trafficking happening at the location. The complainant provided screenshots of images and videos of sexual encounters at the establishment that were part of an online group chat, prompting an investigation.
Officials said the investigation found that there were several unlicensed employees, some of which fled the building during a visit to the location. TDLR said a customer was found inside the establishment without any clothes on who quickly dressed and ran out the door.
Investigators also found several indicators of possible human trafficking, including lingerie and excessive security cameras, according to TDLR.
TDLR issued a six-month emergency closure. The owners are prohibited from operating a different massage establishment at that location.
