I really must learn to drive

I work in a spa but I'm trying to build up my private clients. I prefer to go to the clients houses rather than them coming to me. I don't drive and so end up lugging my couch on buses and tubes. I end up hot and bothered by the time I get to the client. I really must start my driving lessons again and get a car as using public transport takes so long.

Does anyone know the lottery numbers for this coming Saturday Superdraw?

Wow - that is dedication, it must take you HOURS to get to the client by bus and train and walking! Is it worth your while financially and time wise to do that?!

yep, I think to drive it pretty much a necessity to be a mobile therapist. I wonder if a clever accountant could offset your driving lessons somehow?

If you can afford to take lessons then do. I have to say it was the best thing (or one of them!) that I ever did. I didn't do it until I was 26 but it made a huge difference to me and I would hate to lose the independence.

Have you thought of taking a single sheet to put on the persons bed instead of carrying a couch? it works for me and I do drive

and your back doesn't object? I know mine would. Giving a massage on a bed is surely not good for the therapist? We have hydraulic couches and I put them up and down all the time to save my own back.

How does that work? (sorry if that sounds weird) but what I mean is - if it is a double bed, where do they lay - near one side, then move over? In the middle?
How do you reach from one side to the other? Do you get them to shuffle over?

Sorry for all the questions, I just cant get my head round that idea!! I have tried once on my husband, but my back protested straight away too!

cant say i would expect a therapist to turn up with just a sheet for my bed!!!?
i would v much encourage you to plan a future that gets private clients to your door ASAP (it aint easy i know) for many a year i put myself(back) out lugging couches moving funiture, sqeezing around couch steping over dogs, children ect ect the only plus £ all mine. Good luck with the driving.

I wouldn't even entertain it. I paid a lot for my couch and lugged it around until I set up in a clinic. And now I wouldn't even bother to do home visits anyway, too much hassle. If they really want treatment they can come to you....and they will. You just have to be firm and tell them, same applies to your hours of work. You tell them you work set times and they usually find they can fit in.

Working on a bed is not recommended, I just couldn't do it.

Thanks for the input guys - yep I do think that driving lessons will be the best thing I can do for myself. When I was training before I had a couch I used to massage on the floor but my back was not happy. I worry about people coming to me because after the massage some of them are quite disorientated so I worry about them having to drive home - although I give them time to rest before they leave.

I hear what your saying and i know where your heart is, but your clients will be just fine driving afterwards (thousands do every night).Do what you do best and send them on their way, or you will empty out all your energy. ( When i started i used to give away my own energy so much i would have to sleep for 14 hours!) Now I let the energy flow through me, Reiki as i now know it to be. steve
