That's a small class! Which can be a great thing. The instructors have more time to devote to each student, so you get more individualized attention. I hope you have as much fun as I've had!

Glad you liked it Candy. My class consisted of 10, which was 8 females and 2 males, ranging in age from 18 to 40.The class following us was 8, all females.And I agree with merlescuz, you'll be glad in some ways that you have such a small class because you'll get lots of individual attention that way. And hopefully you'll bond like my class did... the school commented frequently about how close we all were to each other.(That was 8 years ago for me...and my time in school was a time of great personal growth and learning for me. And I think of most of my teachers and my fellow students very fondly.) Hopefully you will experience that bond with your classmates too.

I went to my first class.

We started out with 3 guys out of about 20, went to 2 guys out of about 14, and are now back up to 3 out of 18..our class is like a living, breathing organism! It's kind of cool actually. The changes have kept us all in check as far as getting too comfortable, yet it still feels like a cohesive group. The newbies are a little more tentative than us "lifers"  8) ,but they're getting used to us....Here's a question for you, Maestra. How many of your classmates do you still maintain contact with?I suspect that many of my class pals will go separate ways when we're all done. I know one person intends to head to California, another already lives up in New Hampshire, a third lives in Rhode Island, and a handful of others are on their own path.  I would guess that there are probably 4, maybe 5 people that I will keep somewhat regular communication with, while the others will become part of a very fond memory.

When we were in school we swore we'd keep in contact and have "class reunions" even... but such has not been the case.

I've had intermittent contact over the years with some of the girls, haven't heard about the guys at all really.

I wrote to a couple of teachers pretty regularly for awhile. But the teachers have went on to other jobs.. and so I've lost contact with them now too pretty much.  I haven't seen or heard from any of them personally in about 2 years or more.  People get busy with their own lives and their own practice... if they are indeed still doing massage.

But I'm considering "looking them up" if I can... I think it'd be good to "touch base" with them.

What I can say though is that one of my teachers, Sharon, went on to become the program director of MT program in MO. And I exchange e-mails with her a few times a year.

Our school closed it's WI location and our records were transferred to their headquarters in IA. And even then, I'm not sure I'd be able to locate all my missing classmates.  But it might be fun to try.

Our class has gone through the organic living being seforum.xxxe, too, and I agree that it is a nice freshener. I will be interested to see how different our class looks when school resumes in September.

Congrats on starting school, Candy. As you can probably tell from the many comments throughout the board, school was/is a wonderful time for many of us.

Sounds like it's going to be a great class! My class consisted of 6 people. I met my best friend in school, we still hang out almost daily, and are planning to move to Vermont together with a few of our friends eventually. With such a small class, I'm sure you'll make friends with everyone, which will make learning that much easier. Study groups are GREAT! Try to get together as a class to study for tests, and assign each other "teaching" roles, where each person is responsible for guiding the study group over an assigned section. If you're responsible for teaching a section to a group, you're going to be more likely to remember that section, which will definently help on tests. Feel free to look ahead in your anatomy books, and start learning the bones and muscles immediately! I wish I would have started learning the muscles sooner when I was in school, would have helped a lot on those late nights of cramming, lol. I still attend the graduation parties that my school throws, most of our alumni are still friends and still talk. Enjoy class!

We have 7 now. Which is 6 females and 1 males, ranging in age from 17  to 40ish.  The instructor said there will be no more then 10 in our classes. I have 2 classes now Anatomy & Physiology and Massage therapy. My quiz was Anatomy & Physiology and I got 4 points out of 4 points. So I did great.  I have a test in Massage therapy about Massage History on tuesday. So I'm studying for it.  : I'm having a great time in school.  ;D     Thanks Everyone

I'm starting in September.  I was wondering... those of you in classes with odd number of people--how do you deal with the clinical classes where you work on each other?  Or does the teacher jump in to make an even number?My school (MTI in Massachusetts) says they limit enrollment to 38--yikes!  a lot bigger than some of these other schools, I guess.  But then it's a big city.Massage therapy seems to be a female world.  Female management, mostly female students.  That's OK--I love women!  Hopefully they'll put up with me (if only to have a male body to practice on). Anyhow, I'm psyched.  Keep the discussion going!Counting down....

Candy, so glad you started school and have aced your first quiz! Yikes! Only 7 students! We started out back in last September with about 44 students. During the course of the year, it's suppose to be normal for some people to drop out, we've only had 3 people leave and those have been quickly replaced by other students.Anyway, in addition to Seforum.xxxg's study suggestions, I'd suggest you work on all the bodies in your class rather than getting comfortable working on one or two people. The more bodies you work on, the better.And remember, b r e a t h e

my school has 3 sessions *february, may, september * and i know that my session (feb) had 4 classes, two evening and two daytime.. september is a bigger class due to the fact that it is typical back to school.. we have about 26 people in our class about 10 guys, but that fluctuates (both sex and #) because we can "visit" other classes.. if that is an option at your school i would suggest it.. because like Gaspen said.. the more bodies you work on the better... my teacher always says that it is perfectly ok to have an akward moment during class.. but it isn't okay to have one on a paying client.. she is kinda right.. but you never stop learning.. enjoy
