[clueless??]

So we have a washerdryer in our 3 rm clinic, and our dryer went on the fritz last week, when we moved the dryer around tilting it, it actually had about 1/4 cup of oil drip out the bottom.
We have always used holly oil (but think it may actually be mostly mineral oil ) so we will get the dryer fixed today hopefully, (we bought an extended warrenty) and are now going to get a laundry/linen service, or switch lotion/oils.
Anyone else have this problem? is this normal with all oils??

A couple of thoughts on this- your repair person should be able to tell you from where the oil came, (I would suspect it's from the motor/transmission area). If the wash tub/dryer chamber leaked, you would have noticed quite a bit of laundry water leaking every time you used it. I doubt that there is a way it could have come from the linens. Any from them should have gone down the drain.

I agree with the other posters that it is most likely to be oil from the motor of the dryer, not from your linens. However, I read your post and went "ooooohhh yuck" when I saw the mineral oil part. I understand that mineral oil is cheap as an ingredient but it's really bad for your clients. I would switch to a vegetable/nut based oil for the benefits to your clients, not so much for your dryer.

Most extended warranties do not cover commercial use, so I hope you are not stuck with the bill for this repair.

As previously noted, it is unlikely that the fluids you found are from the oils you use for massage. Those should be removed in the washer. If there is enough left in your sheets to foul up the dryer, you would also be having a washer problem. Have you tested the oil you use to find out if it is water-dispersable? Many massage oils are not, and therefore are more likely to stain fabrics and not wash out properly.

We do all of our laundry in-house, at a fraction of the cost of a laundry service.

Yes do check your warranty - where I work p/t this was an unwelcome surprise when the dryer went kaput.

I also agree about doing laundry in-house. Plus you can control WHAT linens you use, what color they are and how they are cleaned.
I don't particularly care for the quality of the linens a service I previously used provided and am also uncomfortable with unknown chemicals that they use.
Plus I still had to wash the linens that they did not provide - face cradle covers, blankets, bolster covers, pillow cases(theirs are too small for a normal pillow) and a couple other things.

Anyway - hope it is a simple cheap repair for now.

The oil is deffinitly from the sheets!!!! clear holly/mineral oil. the lint in the main vent pipe is actually wet/ you can squezz oil out of it. motors typicaly dont have oil in them, at most a bit of white lithium grease in the bearings.
the washer is fairly new, a fridgedair? front load using tide soap.

I think i will switch to a laundry service, cost is 80 cents a sheet plus $8 delivery fee, we will go through about 120 sheets a week. they won't charge for any thing we are not happy with.

I will use our old sheet for a little while, but was them at a coin laundry centre to hopefully get the holly oil out of them over 4 or 5 washes, and have switched to nutro lotion and oil that is made by oakworks tables, it also happens to be a great price!
Has any one used this oil/lotion before? the oil uses sunflower oil in it and has a slight yellow ting to it. wondering if it stains sheets at all, i used to use the oil from the body shop when i got out of school 10 years ago, and it left horrible stains on sheets.

I don't know anyone here in the states that uses mineral oil (a petroleum based product, non?). Dump that junk right now.

I suggest just using pure jojoba oil - that has been mentioned in hundreds and hundreds of posts on this site.

You will never have another oil stain problem or have to worry about possible allergic reactions/dermatitis.

btw - exactly HOW much oil would one have to be using to have it dripping from your dryer lint.
I only use about 1/2 oz of oil per massage and that is on the client not the sheets.
That's just crazy.
Dryer maintenance includes cleaning out the ENTIRE vent - if you have never had this done or done it yourself you have no way of knowing how long junk took to build up - or what was or wasn't done by previous tenant.

I think someone is messing with you.

Front load washers are awesome. Tide he is good but even better detergents to try (and I use BOTH in my front load) are Arm & Hammer Sensitive and Purex Hypoallergenic. You also have the option of running an extra rinse cycle. Oh and check to see if someone is overloading your machine - we had one assistant that I caught twisting and jamming as many sheets as she could into the machine. Nothing gets clean that way - even front loaders have a limit..
(LOL - oil from the body shop - I was thinking you meant an autobody shop and motor oil! yikes!)

None? That is because we travel with our own sheets rather than file reports. It's much more effective.

PERHAPS I am mistaken - I am always open to new information.
In this instance I can only go by anecdotal evidence from my clients who have reported problems. I myself am not so sensitive.

I am not mistaken however in the COST involved in laundry service and the ability to control the quality and color (if ya like color) of your linens when you do it in-house.
