Linen Sprays

Hi.

I just had a client ask me about these recently. Having never heard of them, I thought I'd throw the question out to everyone here.

Have you seen or heard of linen sprays, to make the sheets smell nice? My clients experience with them was at a hotel. Linen spray was provided to make the bed smell pretty.

Any thoughts, ideas or links?

My second favorite thing is chamomile linen spray from Bed Bath & Beyond. It's such a mild, comforting smell.

Oh good to hear some good things about this brand . I did order the green tea and cucumber linen spray for my massage sheets this summer. Very fresh and delicate. I really like it.

I also use a linen spray called Caldrea, it's lavender and pine and smells great. I even use it at home. I also got it as a gift at Christmas. Don't ask where I'm going to buy it after it runs out. An internet search will be needed. Joe E.

I like this spray because you can spray it right on the sheets or other linens in the room or put it in your iron for wash cloths and the like. I don't actually iron wash cloths but, I "stamp" the iron on them and they retain the smell. then you roll them up, put them on a glass dish and put it in the bathroom for clients after washing their hands. Costco wash cloths are cheap and it won't really add too much to your laundry if you're in private practice. You can put the spray in a humidifier or steamer too for the whole room. No clue as to the formula, it just says lavender and pine. I doubt it was too expensive. It was a stocking stuffer but my sister in law's got some good taste so who knows.

The holidays are almost here, make those lists.

i believe linen sprays, in their purest form is an EO suspended in an alcohol medium. i suppose that when sprayed, the mist distributes the EO and the alcohol evaporates.

I picked up a bottle years ago at a dollar store.

I wouldnt pay more than a buck for it. Whats it really good for?? Just something for people to buy imho.

Dunno. In this case, my client was interested in finding these and I thought this would be a great place to ask for input, as well as adding more information in case some therapist who had more of a "foo-foo" relaxation place than myself would be interested in some new (or obviously in this case - old) item to make their place even more "yummy" to the client's perception. Then again, maybe I have some clients who'd like it too, by the comment of my client.

As someone with very sensitive skin, I don't recommend linen sprays for massage therapists. If, as a client, I can smell your sheets, I will not lay down on them, that's for sure! I learned that lesson the hard way, letting a fellow student talk me into sharing her sheets to save time one day in kinesiology. They smelled really fresh and nice (must have been her fabric softener). I was wearing pants and a sports bra, but anywhere those linens touched me, I broke out. I was miserable and itchy for about a week and a half.

Maybe you could just use the spray for particular clients, and not others? *shrugs*

Or it could have been she used GAIN detergent. Every place my skin comes in contact for more than a second with it I break out and itch for days. Needless to say i don't use it nor buy it.

Speaking of detergents....

Has anyone seen the new super concentrated ALL detergent?? Since I dont wash my own sheets, I upgraded from heavy powdered detergents to the super concentraited ALL. A 32 oz bottle has 32 loads in it!! Such a teeny tiny amount!! It is easy to store and easy to lift. Not as econimcal as my powdered detergent, but since I dont use as much detergent any more, its a good trade off to me. I love it! They even have a free and clear type!

I've used All Free and Clear for years (the non-concentrated version) and have always been very happy with it.

When my dryer was on the fritz and I was having to trudge my clothes to the laundrymat I picked up a bottle of the concentrated All and was soooo pleased to not have to lug my super-duper sized of detergent (I shop at Sam's Club) with me.

I agree on the All Free and Clear. I too have been using it for years and find it to be the least reactive for clients skin. I like the liquid form.

More info on those linen sprays please! BTW, my plan is not to necessarily use any linen spray. I just am interested in getting info. It's nice to know information an all.

i don't use the stuff, but i'd have to wonder what's in the mass-produced ones?

as to use, i'd say that as an mt, you could spray it onto the top of your top-sheet, being very careful with your folding and draping as to not have that side touch the skin of the client.
i really think of it as a nice room spray... you just never know when your client is going to let some real stinky wind go :yikes: or have some really bad body odor :shock:
or whatever....

i have a few different bottles of linen spray. i think i've picked them up at a few different stores. i want to say pier one, linens and things, pottery barn? can't think of where else. i don't use them very often but i do have them. i think they can be very lovely for the right client.

Besides purcasing linen sprays, you can easily make your own. Just add essential oil of your choice to a small spray bottle, fill with distilled water, shake well and voila!

Several options

Our clients love the scented linen, but we use products that you can also apply to the skin, so we spray them over each client when they are face up.

My favorite is Neroli mist from Kerstin Florian (http://www.KerstinFlorian.com)

We also use EDPs from Fresh (http://www.Fresh.com) which are great because the scent ties in the the candles we use - both Sugar and Sake.

I might enjoy trying the distilled water and EO. I've never used an FO for anything, though I have a friend who uses them in her soaps.

Small bottles with fine mist sprayers are recommended (this product goes a long way and a small bottle will last awhile!). This stuff is truly amazing, once you try it you’ll be hooked!
