A massage therapist at an Auburn spa was arrested last weekend after a customer told police the wellness worker forced her to touch him inappropriately.
Guangyo Gao, 22, of Shrewsbury was arrested on Oct. 6 and charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14, the Auburn Police Department said.
The incident happened on Oct. 6 at Health Spa, located at 385 Southbridge St. at the Auburn Mall, police said.
Several 911 calls came in from the spa that Sunday, police said, including a call from a 30-year-old woman.
The woman told officers she was a customer and had paid for a massage. An investigation determined Gao, who was the massage therapist for the woman’s appointment, had forced her to touch him inappropriately, the department said.
The owner of Health Spa received a business certificate in February 2020 as Zhu Relaxation, doing business as Health Spa, and renewed their certificate in April 2024, police said.
The Auburn police chief has been in communications with an investigator at the state’s Department of Licensure for potential administrative action, the police department said.
