i wasnt sure where to put this post, but i wust wanted to see if there were any good CD recomendations. i want to add to my colection, i mostly use CD's from target in that listening station. and a few from this holistic book store by my house. the two CD's i have from there are really good the first is Healing Waters and it is great everybody complements on it and the other is Liquid Mind III  but other than that i use mostly clasical music. i just want to get  a feel for what every one else lisend to. 8)

Your collection sounds just like mine!  I used to play Liquid Mind III a lot, but one of my clients told me it sounded like funeral music so I don't play it much anymore.   My favorite is a CD a friend gave me.  It's called "Rain Dance" and it's by Robert Whitesides-Woo I think.Katykangaroo

Massage Music

Hello, all. I've been reading this board for a while now and finally decided to jump in. I've learned so much here and am happy to be able to contribute. Although I have been doing Reiki for ten years, I am relatively new to massage and just trained in Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy last month. Wow! No one has ever complained to me about Liquid Mind III. I am looking to scoop up others by Liquid Mind since it's such a favorite. I live in Cozumel, Mexico, so cd's have to be ordered... and that means I don't get to listen to them first.Other favorites in my collection are Tao of Peace by Dean Evenson and Li xiangting (great), Bali Reflections of a Tranquil Paradise, Spirit Wind and Quiet Heart by Richard Warner. I also enjoy Patrick Bernhardt's Solaris Universalis and Atlantis Angeles although they are vocals and that doesn't always go over well.Hope that helps and looking forward to hearing about your favorites. I have most of the cd's mentioned here, but I am also a big fan of Solitudes' music.  They have a website and you can listent o samples of the cd's before you buy.  They are most often found at Bed, Bath and Beyond, however I order them wholesale to sell to clients.Some of my favorites are:Stream of DreamsZen GardenZen EscapeNatural Sleep InducementYogaForest Pianoand many, many more!

Hi Natalie et al.I purchase music for the spa I work for and here are some websites for you to check out:soundings.com, realmusic.com, serenitymusic.com.Soundings is owned by Dean Evanson who's music is mentioned here in several posts - his music and that of his other artists are some of my favorites.  Sound Healing is my all time favorite cd.Someone mentioned Rob Whitsides-Woo and he and some other great artists (my favorite is Max Highstein) are represented by the label Serenity.  Real Music has some fantastic artists as well.  I love Danny Wrights piano music and the etheral music of 2002.Serenity and Soundings offer great prices when you buy 5 or more and even better ones if you buy 10 cd's.I swear I do not work for any of the above companies I am simply a therapist who likes to listen to good music while giving a massage!

My favorite music to do massage to is Hanai Music.www.hanaimusic.comEach ablum is designed to be 50-70 beats per minute, to help trigger the body's own "relaxation response."My clients love it and it's like taking a 1 hour vacation without the jet lag!  While all are good, my favorites for massage are Inspiration, Serenity and Tranquil Forest.I believe you can listen to samples if you have real player. (BTW, if you want to stock up before the gift giving season roles around... I know she sells to MT so they can retail them to their clients too.)One of my clients was so impressed she recently bought one of each of the Hanai Music CDs! I was totally blown away!

WOW! thanks for all the responses. im suprised none of you mentioned using or enjoyin any CD's purchased at Target.  the target colection is huge at my place of work. the stuff they put out is realy nice and my clients complement alot on them, my fave of them has to be the one titled Sleep. but i love all the ones ive had from there. thanks again. natalie

I agree with the other posts.  I have about 5 cd's of Liquid Mind.  I like them.  Very relaxing.  I use a lot of my cd's to help me get to sleep at night.  And I feel so much more rested after listening to the music.I also like Mike Rowland' cd's.......So To Dream and Fairland.  I think those are right.  I also like Marina Raye's music.  Have three of here cd's.  Very relaxing.  Some with bird sounds and flute music.  Question......Do most of you just play the music that is most relaxing to you?  Or do you ask the client what they would like?  I've never had a client tell me they didn't like my music choices.  But know some men think alot of the new age music is like funeral music.

Sorry, no, I've never picked a CD  up from Target.  But I have from Office Depot, the Dollar Store, Wal-Mart and other sources.You might go to http://www.tuesdaymorning.com and look a store near you. You might find CDs there that will work. I've gotten many from there over the past 7 years and very few have Not been appropriate for massage.  These I tend to give as gifts to family or friends who like ambient music to do bookwork to, or travel with, etc. Average cost is $2.99 per CD. However, a few of them are 60 minutes in length. I tend to ask my client what type of music they prefer during their first visit. If I don't have the time to let them choose, I try to have a couple of new age and a classical in the CD changer/player so with just the flick of a button I can switch the CD to one which would be more to their liking. I also try to vary what they listen to each visit so neither of us gets "Bored."I have a rather extensive new age CD collection with a good smattering of Classical works as well (classical orchestra, classical piano, classical guitar, classical with nature sounds...)  And I try to change those in the CD player at least weekly.

There's been mention of some very beautiful music here, thank you for sharing your favorites, all. My ears are always perked up for massage music. I imagine that's a constant for every one of us. My work bridges the upper corporate to the wildly artistic folks, so my collection reflects that. In among all my Celtic, Angelic, Healing and Nature sounds, there's also Astrid Gilberto, Billy Holiday, Peggy Lee, Leonard Cohen, even Stevie Ray Vaughn ;-)I've got everything from Chopin to Muddy Waters (a great sympathetic choice for a day that has brought on your client's blues *lol*)...of course I always ask what they would like... and I welcome clients to bring in their own favorites.  Gi

Enya is very popular at the spa I work in.  I put together my own cd of guitar instrumentals, and was surprised at how my clients liked it. I did it mostly for working on friends, but it ended up in the cd player at work. It has Stevie Ray Vaughn, Los StraitJackets, The Mermen, Brian Setzer, The Allman Brothers, and several others. I trade massages with a friend, and she liked it so well, she asked for a copy to use in her practice.
