Massage Parlors in Edmonton Dying or Declining?

Hey etown massageplaneters,

I've been hearing about how slow business is for the Massage Parlors in edmonton.

Is this true or not true as a long term trend,? Are MPs dying or declining? Yes? No? Reasons for your outlook, positive or negative?

If you do think they're declining/dying, what would some of the reasons be for this?

Comments are appreciated from both the gents AND the ladies.

I much prefer the indies , travelling girls and the micros myself. Bottom line is that the MP are no longer even comparable to the price and service levels received elsewhere. That may be painting it with a broad stroke however for the most part is the norm.

Now to answer if they will die out ? I don't see how as they of course would evolve to compete. With that being said I laugh at the number of times I hear friends/aquaintances mention MP etc, I think our little massageplanet world may be a very small community for the mostpart as so many more either don't know of the other sources or are so infrequent that they don't bother. That clientele alone probably keeps them fairly busy.

Who knows I could be way out in left field though .. Lol

i think that MP's are declining.

1. there are way to many MP's in Edmonton.

2. way too many lack lustre SP's charging way too much for what they offer. they have made in unbareable for me to want to visit a studio anymore.

3. Indy's seem to be the way to go.

for me i will more than likely only visit EBC to see Mika, and would like to set something up with LolitaMySin. other than that i will be sticking to my ATF's.

It has been a couple years since I have had the opportunity to visit Edmonton's finest. However, I do remember the general menu prices then and I believe that the average price discussed in the forums indicate that the costs are above the average indy or agency in Calgary. That alone will reduce the attendance. Why visit a parlor that will guarantee your exit to the minute instead of a lovely indy who may permit the shower to not be part of your time "together"?

It's still more convenient and anonymous for most pooners to walk into an MP than to take the time to make arrangements to see an indy. Many guys will always be willing to pay a slightly higher price for that convenience.

I agree though the VFM is definitely higher with the indies. The thing is, I think we get a skewed view of the overall pooning picture in Edmonton when we read these boards because only the most dedicated pooners participate regularly here.

Most casual pooners probably don't even check out the boards and when they get a hunkering to see an SP, the MPs are the easiest way to go.

Business is slowing down for those who provide poor service. I don't think that is limited to MP's. I see a lot of ads posted by girls who work at home being posted over and over again. We are living in an age of accountability. When you give your best, you can expect to receive that right back. Give bad service and you won't last long these days. When I started a few years ago, I was told "Earn Your Money - Every Cent". My business is hands down stronger than it has ever been. I know many girls who share that good fortune.

Comparing the strength of their business is a tricky one. If a girl who works from home only decides to work three days a week, no one notices. If a MP decides to only open three days a week it is quite a bit more visible. There are also different benchmarks for success in these locations. SP's in private incalls may consider 1 or 2 clients per day each week to be good. A girl who works in an MP might find that to be a slow as she only works a couple evenings a week.

There are too many MP's in the city that are simply dependent on convenience as main selling feature. They have girls who don't give good service. That doesn't cut it anymore. In the same thought, there are too many Independent girls working out of their houses and doing outcalls that are ripping off clients, providing amateur service, etc. Both have their merits and flaws. I'll be keen to see how it plays out. I predict the dust will settle and the good providers will always come up unscathed, regardless of their location.

Based on the 2 SPs I talked to last week, business is definitely in the decline. One girl took an office job and just works part-times in a studio. Another girl at a different studio was thinking about quitting all together as soon as she finds a decent job, and she has been in the industry for a several years.

I still go to MPs - partly because of habit, partly because of the convenience - but most importantly because they still have ladies who are worth seeing.

I find that booking an indie or traveler requires more advanced arrangements, which can be an issue. I could be horny as hell on the day of the booking but the state of my body, mind and LG could be different on the day of the appointment.

Nevertheless it's good to have more options with BP, micros, indies and travelers, which is better than a few years ago when MPs were about the only choice. We hope that the extra competition translates to MPs and local agencies lowering their prices. But the problem is that many pooners are unaware of the review boards and thus continue to flock to the MP girls who are all eye-candy but little service.

I think Eve/Lauren is dead on with this comment. She clearly understands this business and i am not surpised that she is doing well. Her reviews and reputation are impeccable so even though business may be slow for some, the good providers will always be busy.

I have far less time during the Fall and Winter than the summer so perhaps that is a factor for some guys. THat said i must find time to visit the beautiful Eve/Lauren sometime soon.

Honestly .... Every month is different but my studio always averages the same amount of clients monthly. So I don't see it dropping. The last week has been slow but there has been a lot of hockey games and football games those days are always slow for the parlours and most likely for the indy's to. Indy's that are working for themselves of course they are gonna be cheaper then the parlours.. they work for themselves. But at the parlour the girls pay out 70-80 on there first client no matter where they work so they do charge the average standard 200-240 for services. Yes there are lot more parlours then there used to be 10 years ago when I first started. I remember 10 years ago the parlours made way more money but thats just not happening anymore cause to many parlours exist now. thats all. But for the most part my studio averages about the same clientele monthly so Im not worried. And as for myself my clientele stays about the same so again not worried.

I agree with eve, the business is slowing down for those who don't provide good service. Everyone has their slow days but for the most part I know many ladies who have no complaints as they have a steady flow of regulars who see them.

There are also other factors that make it slow for a particular SP. Is she advertising? Are the girls making guys wait to meet them? Is she looking nice when she goes to the door?

As for MPs shutting down, everyone going indy and becoming like Calgary...I dont really think that will happen in Edmonton unless they change the bylaw to be like calgary. MPs in Edmonton are all legal and licensed so the risk for both SP and pooner is quite low. Going indy isnt for everyone, and I know alot of girls who are scared to do so and are more comfortable sitting a studio where they have someone booking their appointments, and other ladies nearby for safety.

And nowadays, most well-reviewed indy SPs ask for referencing so those who are unable to provide one really have no other choice then to see an MP/agency girl so I'm sure out of towners and first time/non-frequent pooners and those who dont remember the last girl theyve seen keep MPs in business

I work both angles and indy and MPs both have their strong advantages so I dont really see either of them dying off any time soon!

An excellent summary Mya and great point Eve. The Great providers will always be as busy as they want to be whether indy or mpa. The reality is MPs will always be around for two reasons:

Firstly: As Bad Santa pointed out a lot of guys like the anonymity it provides.

Secondly: A large number of the girls don't want to (or do not have the capacity) do the hard work that is required to be a successful. One does not have to look too far to see posts about gals not showing up on time for their shift, this type of gal would fail as an Indy.

I prefer the Indy scene as the majority of the "real indys" ( not the BP streetwalker ) have their shit together and tend to be SPs that you can feel a "connection" at more than the carnal level.
