A husband and wife have been accused of promoting prostitution at their Lakewood foot massage parlors.
Yonghe Yu and Shurong Wang, both 60, pleaded not guilty Friday.
Both are charged with second-degree promoting prostitution, and Yonghe Yu is also charged with leading organized crime.
He was able to make his bail, set at $75,000, and his wife was able to make hers, at $15,000.
According to charging papers:
Detectives went undercover as clients at the couple’s foot massage businesses from June through earlier this month. One of the businesses was in the 9200 block of South Tacoma Way, and the other in the 8700 block.
Some women gave straightforward massages, and others tried to give sexual services as part of the package, without asking for additional money.
Investigators also got an anonymous tip from a couple, who said they were surprised by the sexual nature of their massages at one of the businesses during a visit.
Yonghe Yu told police his businesses did not offer sexual services.
His wife, who said she managed one of the businesses, said two of the woman had been let go because of suspicion that they had been performing sexual acts for customers.
Court records did not list attorneys for the couple.
