I like Tacos del Rincon's tacos. It's about 50yards past the Yelow cab stand on the right just as you cross the border into Mexico walking towards the Mc Donalds. They have awsome Al Pastor tacos (my favorite). Also Tacos Fitos is really good as is Tacos el Gordo both of which any cab driver can take you to. Let me know what you think!

The two taco carts can also chop up some good (beef) carne asada or carve off some very nice (pork) al pastor tacos if beef tongue is too exotic for you.

If I have a craving for mole chicken at lunchtime, I go to a little hole-in-the wall place a few storefronts south of Kinkle Bar. It's a narrow little place that is barely wide enough for a common counter attached to one wall where patrons sit single file along that wall to eat. Most breakfast and lunch meals are in the 20p to 30p price range and locals tend to eat there.

If the "mole" cravings hit me in the morning, these's only one place I go - the place's name is something like "Super Antonijos" or similar. It's on the north side of 4th street, just a few storefronts east on Nino Heroes. They have a very good dish of chicken enchiladas covered in mole sauce and topped with sour cream. This is another placed that caters more to locals than tourists.

Wow this thread has turned into a discussion on gourmet tacos and other foods proving that 'man' doesn't live on sex alone. I once had a teacher in a health class say that sex is a drive like hungry but that it was a secondary drive, as the caveman would ignore the cave girl until he had eaten, and then after he had his dinner he would drag the women in the cave for sex. I guess that teacher never met a monger where it works the opposite way?

I hope your right Sampson about that taco stand to the right of Chicago Club still being open, but I had given up hope as it's been closed the last few trips I have made, and even before it has always closed early so I'm still looking for new places.( let me know if you see it open)

I know the taco stand your talking about ScatManDoo and if you and Melonbag say it's the same owners and good I'll give it a try.

I also hear the taco stand on Articulo 123 and F Martinez is good, but there are a few trannies working a few steps away from the outdoor restaurant so maybe something besides the tacos is making these guys mouth water. and they just like the ambiance?

Keep the tips of the good places to eat in TJ comming as good food and good value are always hard to find, and tips cut down on the hit and miss.

More than two years ago a good monger and eater (melonbag) gave me a great tip. He told me that the blue-tarped roof taco stand directly across the street from Kinkle Bar was owned by the same folk as the blue-tarped roof Chicago Club taco stand we both enjoy. I've happily eaten at both these taco stands ever since. I even prefer the Nino Heroes location because they more regularly carry my favorite taco filling - Lengua.

The folks at the Chicago Club stand ocassionally do take a week off - so keep an eye out for their return. But also consider their sister cart - which sets up every day at around 3PM on Nino Heroes close to Coahuila Ave. (right next to the 24-hour seafood cart).

Alright, this has turned into a "gourmet" discussion while I was out making money on the down stock market Seriously I didnt know you guys were hungry for Tacos besides the Chicas Good suggestions by Gmbrldrx and Dondulce to whet our apetites ! Another thing I do is that is in Miami/Chavelas, I ask the waiter to get some Tacos or Shrimp and they get some really good stuff, I dont know from where !

There is a chicken rotisserie restaurant a couple of blocks from La Zona, around the corner from the cathedral called Los Pollouelos. They have dynamite mole, my favorite Mexican food. It's very clean, tasty, and reasonable. For five bucks, you get a great meal. Sounds like an advertisement... (sorry)

It's on Martinez just north of 2nd Avenue. In other words, if you at the main entrance to the cathedral on Los Niٌos Heroes (which is a block south from La Zona -- go figure), just walk around the block until you are on the opposite side of the main entrance.

there's a restaurant on revo. by where the atm machines are that serves really good mexican food. I don't know if you want to go that far, but their food is really good and cheap. Personally, I like to go to sanborns massageplaneteteria by like 5th and revo. that way I can get some coffee with my meal and that is always a boost.

I like the change of the Miami/ Las Chavelas where the walls came down between the clubs. I especially like I can take a short cut instead of having to walk around the block getting to the other side and having to deal with the barkers at Rio Rosas on the corner and the other hawkers on the way. But I am a little sad I won't be able to move from Hong Kong to Miami like I use to.

Another change I don't like is my favorite taco stand by Chicago Club closed down, and my second favorite place to eat tacos in the alley is no longer there it was the restaurant in the alley close to Constitution Street.

So where do I go now? I tried going to Jack-in-the-Box and getting something on the way home, but every time I'm there the kitchen is closed for cleaning.

I don't like the restaurant's by AB or CC, and really don't like eating off taco carts as I have a very sensitive stomach, but I may have too?

Anybody know other places in the zona that serve good taco's or your favorite taco cart? I like a late nite snack before going home, as I burn lots of energy in the hours I spend in TJ.

Thanks Sampson. Looks like after the "merger" Miami and Chavelas have more traffic talent ! And we thought mergers take place only in the corporate world Miami does have line dancing and the train routine and girls and meseros seem to enjoy it.

I was in Miami last night, and it was fun. I was with a chica friend of mine and they were doing the country line dance, and later doing the train. Lots of laughs and fun to watch. I was impressed with the talent in there, especially for a Sunday night.

Hi, If anyone has been to Miami or Chavelas recently would have noticed that they have opened up the wall between. It is still under construction, but there is easy passage between the two clubs. And of course more local traffic, the gringos are definitley much less than before.
For newbies, these two bars are adjacent to HongKong, but these are distincly local flavored, with loud blasting music and some passable girls.
