I hope this is ok in this category. I am bored with my massage music and so, I'm trying an experiment where I ask massage therapists for their favorite cd or 2 or 3.  That way if there are others who are in need as well, we can all benefit from each others' recommendations.  I am interested in all types of massage music...any nationality, and especially on the spiritual side ...  Here is one of my favorites to start off:  Carlos Nakai: Canyon Trilogy.  Native American Flute. Very simple. A little guitar here and there. Meditative. Any thoughts?? Thanx  ???  sulilly

I have so many favorites, and have collected many CDs over the years. Here's something that I like to do:  burn a new CD of my own, borrowing from the different ones I already have. Sometimes they sound like a "world music sampler" if I mix different origins. Some are more uplifting and energetic than others, etc. I even break the cardinal rule sometimes (horror!) and put down tracks that have vocals, but I always intersperse them among melodies that move along a similar groove.An OLD favorite of mine that I have listened to and worked to literally for years has been Enchantment by Chris Spheris and Paul Voudouris. The Sharper Image has also had lovely ones that I've purchased from time to time.... Flamenco Guitar (slow tempos, very lovely), and one that is just awesome called Shiatsu.Jill/Sagetherapist

"Inspiration", "Serenity" and "Tranquil Forest" by Hanai, are very popular with my clients, though I own every one of them and they are all good.      www.hanaimusic.comI am also particularly fond of some music I downloaded from the free music download section of Amazon.com.Charlie Wayne - Native American FluteRosewynde Flute and Harp Duo - Celtic / classic mixMichael Dulin - Piano and some duets which include Native American FluteZola Van - PianoI work in a salon and so have burned the Charlie Wayne and Rosewynde ones to be an hour long, and there are some others I have burned to be half hour long for those clients who only wish to receive a half hour session.I have many others that I enjoy but these probably see the most "play." I've also got a nice selection of other CDs I am thinking of mixing up and burning. If you like guitar you might try Atmosphere's Spanish Nights CD (new compositions) or Family Circle's Best Ever Guitar Favorites (classical), I enjoy both and they just came from Wal-mart.The one thing I don't like to play for massage sessions is Enya. The lyrics are just to distracting. I'll do it if the client requests that music, because the salon owns a couple of her CDs.  But she wouldn't be my first choice.Many of my clients request the name and artist's information for the CDs I play during their massage, I've started keeping a business card handy to print that on the back of for the client while they dress.That way they can throw the same CD on at home and try to relax in a tub and recall their massage fondly.  Ah, the Power of Music and the Power of Touch are incredible things! 8)

Hi all.  As far as music for my clients, its pretty tough to get bored because the range is so eclectic.  Along with the "typical" nature music, the range extends from Gregorian Chants, to Chopin, to Reggae??!!?? to Jazz Ballads (no vocals) which is my personal favorite along with Native American Flute music.  I have also have two clients who request "Trip-Hop".  It really depends on their mood.

I also like Nora Jones, but not so much after hearing 3 or 4 times in a row  :.  One of my favorites is Kitaro, a japanese instrumentalist.  Some of his newer work has voices, which I am not a big fan of, but the majority is an instrumental with an "astral" feel to it.  Hard to explain, you kind of just have to hear it.

I have always been a fan of Ambient music, a connoisseur, if you will. It's the best kind of music to fall asleep to. If your client is asleep, you know things are going good! My husband is a therapist and I know vocals is breaking the rules, but you have to try Enigma and some Enya for a nice change of pace!  It is wonderful!!
