My second trip to LOS - General questions

I am visiting Tong soon, most likely in the next 3-6 weeks, for 3 odd weeks. I have been once before, with a friend last year and barely touched the surface in truth

I have some general questions and seeming I am (unashamedly!) going solely for the night life, I thought I would post my questions here. I apologise in advance if these are repetitive or unanswerable

So then, in no particular order:

1. I am currently in India. I have £500 sterling in the form of 10 x £50 notes. I do not have a single baht. I cannot change £ for THB where I am (which is in the middle of nowhere) and will be short on time when I make it to Delhi airport

I will need baht to pay for the mini bus from HKT to Tong. I imagine changing £ for THB at BKK is the best option but am assuming I will not get the best rate at the airport, so should change the minimum possible (in this case, £50) - ?

(I have plenty of time for my connection flight from BKK to HKT so can change at either airport, should that be of relevance)

2. I will need a micro sim card on a Thai network as soon as possible. I believe (read here somewhere) that these are handed out free at either BKK or HKT. Could someone please clarify that and, just in case, confirm the next possible location where I can obtain a micro sim

3. My trip will be on a reasonable budget due to various reasons. I am not a fan of drinking alone in my hotel room but think I will do for a few nights to save a little money. How much is a bottle of Sangsom from 7-11, Family Mart etc? Is it even available in those stores (I assume so but somehow forgot to check last year)

A large bottle of beer in a girl bar is 150 THB if I remember (depending on the bar of course, but generally). How much is it in one of the aforementioned stores?

4. I have been eating home made Indian food for almost 2 months, 3 times a day, each and every day. Whilst the food has been nutritious and as fresh as can be, I do miss my western food including meat, which I have barely consumed these past 8 weeks

As mentioned above, my trip is on a moderate budget

Where can I eat 'cheap' western food in Patong? I am not talking of franchises such as Subway, McDonalds, BK etc as I acknowledge those prices are non flexible and comparative to western rates

Can any BM's recommend a favourite place for western food which doesn't break the bank? Or is all western food pricey in Tong. Presumably a peek around Carrefour is worthwhile? Do they sell cooked food ready to eat like British supermarkets do?

I love my Thai food too and know a few places to get well priced, fresh food

5. If I decide to see a FL, should I insist on seeing ID? To check age etc. I recognise the 'danger' from spending time with a FL is greater than seeing someone from a bar or GoGo as they are not 'employed' (connected) to the bar

What other 'dangers' do FL's bring as opposed to BGs?

6. I did not visit any clubs during my time in LOS last year. I have noted from this forum that Hollywood, Seduction etc are favourites for acquiring FL's

Do these clubs have a strict dress code? This may be a silly question but I am travelling light and do not wish to bring any more than necessary. Is it permitted to wear shorts, combats and white trainers in such clubs?

Fear not, I am not chav! By shorts/combats I mean plain black, dark blue garments and I have some white Reebok trainers with me which are in fine condition and by far the most comfortable of the 3 pairs of footwear I've brought with me from England

It's either those, flip flops, jesus sandals or I invest in some shoes!

7. Does non-Thai P4P exist in Patong?

8. How do I approach the desire to spend an evening with 2 girls? I imagine this will not work for 2 girls from the same bar, as I have heard and read of many difficulties seeing 2 from the same bar can bring

At the same time I do not wish to jeopardise the opportunity to see a girl by asking her if she is up for me bringing another. Needless to say if I do go down that road, I will ask her before paying the BF!

How d'you go about this, is it just pot luck?

9. If I see a girl and for some reason cannot BF her, be it because she is not working that evening or she is already committed or not well etc etc, would she object to me asking her number or offering mine in view of spending the following evening with her? Or is it just more sensible to ask when she is next working and arrive at the venue at a suitable hour

10. I am travelling alone. Aside from the beach late at night, where should I avoid in Tong? I know trouble can surface at virtually any where in the world at any moment, but are there any other places to note?

3. Can get Sang Some everywhere at about 235 THB. Big beer meaning 66 cl. ? About 45-60 THB in 7-11 depending if its Singha, Heineken or Chang

6. No dresscode as far as I know

7. Do you mean like russian ? Yes, but who wants that ...

9. Most girls like to spend a day off work with falang but remember to pay her for her time

You won't burn your bridges by asking, never fear to ask and I found that when I did the BG usually did accept to go with a friend from same bar and sometimes even presented the idea, some BGs want to be comfortable with each other to join in as 2, but some can come along and allow you to pick up another as well during the evening, simply ask and explain what you want and find out if it is acceptable, many times I meet 2 Bgs or more that asked if they could come together for ST/LT as well.

The problem is to get the answer you want from that special one you want with some other special one you want, as some don't like the ide of sharing

Smile, be nice and ask and you should have a good time and also remember the BGs talk to each other and spread your rumor ;-)

The hotel u stay at will most likely ask for her ID anyway, saves u asking.

Cant imagine it would be too hard to pick up 2 girls. Saw a guy take 5 home from the same bar once. No idea of cost though.

Ive spent 6 months in SE Asia without any dress code issues and i always wore shorts and thongs. Highly doubt the places u mention would either.*

With the two girl requests. You will want a girl who is into other girls. Most aren't. But it won't be a fun time unless you get a girl who is happy to frolic with another girl... and in that case they usually have a "friend" who they will bring with them... so you'll need to do some talking to find out who may be up for that. But don't let it be a distraction... you may miss out on other nice girls because of your mission for a threesome... 555

1. I believe you will be going through customs at BKK, then taking a domestic flight to HKT. In that case you can change £50 or so at the BKK airport and get a decent rate. The rest can be changed after you have reached your hotel.

4. There is a wonderful variety of western food available in Tong, along with a wonderful variety of Asian food. The small Sois coming up from Beach Street to the south of Bangla are fun places to look for good food. There is a good Irish pub down on Beach St close to Soi Kepsap that has good food, not too expensive. I also like Marco Polo on one of the small Sois for brick oven baked pizza.

5. It's probably a good idea to make sure a FL has her ID with her, in case you want to go back to her room. You may or may not be able to read it yourself.

6. No strict dress code in the discos, though I think the muscle-bound blokes in the dirty singlets are pretty tacky. I like to wear decent clothes, i.e. shirt with collar, nice shorts, not sweat pants, etc. Think resort casual, and make yourself comfortable.

7. Sure, Laos and maybe even some Cambo girls if you're lucky. You'll have to shop around.

9. The reason she gives (for not being BF-able) may or may not be the truth. Perhaps try another night, or better yet, just move on to the next lovely girl.

10. If you stay in the main areas where the tourists go, then no problem. All the streets from Beach St back to Nanai should be fine. If you wander too far astray, you may find a nice Thai girl to give you a lift back on her motorbike. Don't be afraid to be a little adventurous. Soi Kepsap can be a hazard to walk down during the daytime! 555
