Know nothing more than seen the constuction..

Thought it was a distribution rather than micro brew.. Someone told me micro brew licenses were nigh on impossible thanks to trying to control rural home made stills or similar.

When passing I saw a sign saying it was going to have its own microbrewery. I'll try and find more info. I know that it is hard setting up, but the londoner in Bangkok brews its' own, so it is not impossible. I'm v. excited at the prospect of a nice Pale Ale or equivalent.

I was disappointed with the beer at the Londoner, didn't think it was that good. There was also a brew pub at the end of Soi 20, don't know if it's still there, the beer there was very good IMO. As I find Thai beer rather tasteless and ordinary (okay, BAD!), I'd surely enjoy a place to drink good brews, and hopefully reasonably priced.

There is a great Pizza and Micro Brew in Pattaya. Located maybe 50 yards from the entrance to WS. Delicious beer and pizza.

On Clarke Quay there's a place called Highlander that brews its own beer. DO NOT drink under any circumstances. It's disgusting.

This NoCal is a huge fan of micro-brew. I used to make it myself. When I had my loft in San Francisco, I had a 50 gallon capacity.

NN, Don't know if you can technically consider it a micro-brew, but I just love the Anchor Liberty Ale! (And their porter is good as well!) Of course in the New England area (my old home), it was expensive enough to be considered a micro-brew! But it was certainly some tasty beer! And here in Thailand, I'd give my left nut for a 6-pack right now!

Had the Anchor Liberty Ale in SFO on the way home from LOS this past trip. Good stuff:

Home I like the Sam Adams and up north in VT like the Magic Hat Fat Angel.

In London, loved the Fullers London Pride and John Smiths extra smooth.

Would be nice if Patong had its own brewery.

Ahhh! You're killing me here MM! I miss REAL beer! And a Magic Hat #9 just makes my mouth water thinking about it! Contrary to the popular belief that American beer = Scudweiser, you can definitely get some quality beer in the States now, albeit at a premium price.

It most certainly is a microbrew. The Anchor Brewery is quite small, actually. The brewing processes they use are also very traditional.

Liberty Ale is one of my absolute favorites. The pricey supermarket down the street has been getting my business lately because they have both Anchor Liberty Ale and Anchor Porter. I love 'em both as well. They are at $8.99 a 6-pack. Well worth it!

If you do ever make it to San Francisco (don't call it Frisco!), make sure to schedule a tour at the Anchor Brewery ahead of time. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. First, you get to tour the facilities and marvel at all the wonderful sights and smells. I found a few surprises, like the water they use is Hetch-Hetchy Gold (SF tap water, which is actually melted snow pack from the Sierras). Also, that Liberty Ale gets its sharp taste by "dry hopping" it. That is, they toss a bunch of hops into a steeping bag and put it into the fermenter. No wonder it's so hoppy!

Best thing? Heading to the Tasting Room after the tour where you can languish for a couple of hours trying all the various beers, ales and even a Barley Wine.

LA is cool and all, but I really miss my home town talking about this great brew.

Vesuvio's is good. I like sitting upstairs next to a window overlooking Kerouac Alley.

Across the street at Spec's, though, "something" will always "happen". Might be good, might be bad, might be humorous, might be odd. And then there's Tosca with opera on the jukebox and you might see Francis Coppola or Nick Cage bending elbows there. I loved to take random tourists into The Saloon for cheap/free live blues and a crusty but fun atmosphere. Grant 'n Green is always rockin' and sis used to work at Savoy Tivoli. North Beach Pizza or Golden Boy? I spent a lot of time in Columbus massageplanete, Amante, North Star and most of my time at the Rogue Ale House. I got a plaque hammered into the bar there.

North Beach is a zoo on the weekend, but the rest of the time it's pretty cool.

Beach Chalet? But of course! The best night was when "The Mermen" played a show there. They play pure instrumental surf music. It's pretty cool.

But then again, we're talking about a microbrewery in Thailand. I hope they do well and make good brew.
