Nightclubs and bars??

Hi guys,
I'm sorry if this is a repost but I was wondering what phuket had in the way of big nightclubs. I'm not expecting anything like Bangkok but I like to get my groove on:ytounge: .

So any recommendations? What type of music do most play? Entrance fees? Closing times? Sorry for so many questions.

Also bars, any sophisticated bars/cocktail lounges suitable for couples? I'll take my boyfriend to Patong of course (on a long leash ).

Big nightclubs are not realy to be found in Patong. I would rather say there are a few small clubs and a few more 'discotheques'....
Tiger, Tai Pan, VIP, The Loft, Baya Beach Club, Safari etc are not real night clubs in my book. OK, good entertainment later in the evening but not a club atmosphere. Music is a mixture of everything, Hip Hop, House, Soul, Thai etc. Publis is more attracted for the persons in the clubs than for club music and style.

What I think is a great small club is 'La Baia' in the Tropicana hotel. Beautiful bar with good (house) music. Good drinks and classy atmospere. Unfortunately the prices are (or were as I was told that they would go down) way to high to compete in Patong. Places like this are a good addition to Patong nightlife. As was/is 'Home Bar'. Unfortunately those places do not get the recognision they deserve.

Real clubbing. Go either to Bangkok, Singapore or even Samui.....

Thanks! I just "googled" La Baia and the reviews and comments are very positive! Definitely a must on my list!

Banana: 240 baht (2 free drinks)
Tai Pan: Free
Baya: Free
Safari: Free

Closing times: not set in stone bit of an average guesstimate:

Tiger: 4am
Tai Pan: 3am
Baya: 3am
Banana: 2am
Safari: 4-8am depending when the MIBs show up.

Not sure but it is strong and tastes of fishermans friends / strong liqurice. And of course it is black.

Fishermans friends are meant to be good for your throat but these seem to make your throat sore the next day if you have enough of them.:mad2: :mad2:

The time that Thailand was het night life paradise of Asia is long gone.....
Early closing hours are the noirm after the 'social order' campaign. 3 / 4 AM early? Official closing time is 1 AM, everything after that is by grace of the police...
Clubbing culture is rather 'dead; in thailand. Unfortunately....

VIP (Hollywood) Free Entrance Closes 3am
The Loft Fee Entrance Closes 3am (Thai crowd ex Crocodile)
Galaxy Free Entrance Closes 2.30am (Thai cover band/Thai crowd)

Big new club due to open in next couple of months in Happy Road - they are planning 70's 80's etc theamed nights etc - will be the biggest nightclub in Patong since the demise of the (great) Shark Club.

(Not seen Home Bar open in a while - but was by far the classiest bar in Patong).

yeah BKK closes before Patong as a general 'rule'.

Are there any big clubs in BKK - for the size of the city you think there would be some that hold 2000+ and hold the odd all nighter. Closest i have seen ( and it isn't much) is at RCA.

Plenty of clubs in Bangkok. Biggest concentration is at present at RCA. You say " it isn't much"; sorry RCA is heaving at the moment with good new and big clubs as Astra, the only dance club with international DJ's and great music. Besides RCA we have Q Bar, Bed Supperclub, Silom soi 4, Glow, Ana Garden, massageplanete Democ, CM2, Escudo, Booze, Lucifer, Narcissus, Song Salung, Zurich, Santika etc. etc....
Too many 'short time' visitors only end up at the big names, but there is a lot more to discover!

like i said i was in RCA and it was v busy - but still no where near 2-3k up for it people. alot of posers standing by tables.

Qbar was disappointing in that it is fkin TINY. but good music and atmos.

PS - u took "it isnt much" COMPLETELY THE WRONG WAY i mean "i have not personally seen much" which is why I was asking.......so don't slag me as a 'short time' visitor.

You take me also wrong in calling you a short term visitor. That comment was very much generalising ment. Just trying to educate 'the masses...'

Anyway.....
Reason that you see many people standing around tables is a license issue. New entertainment licenses, which include the sought after 'dance license' are almost not being issued anymore. That is why so many tables and no dance floors.... Another nail in Bangkoks reputation as the party capital of Asia.

Q Bar is indeed small. More like a club / bar atmosphere. Great place though, I agree. Was for years a daily visitor, still having fond memories about it.
