Not so new kid on the block

Hello, everybody.

I've just introduced myself on the new members forum, but as I'm starting a VTCT Body Massage course at the end of September I'll be spending most of my time on this forum, I guess. I've been reading some of the posts on here and the impression I have is there are a lot of friendly, helpful people out there with loads of useful information which is a nice confidence booster when you feel a little like you're going into the unknown.
Bit of background on myself. I'm male and a little on the mature side(50), so this could be even more of a challenge for me. I was interested to read the posts on male therapists and even though I've yet to take the first step, I tend to believe that if you have the ability and the personality it will carry you through in the end. I'm actually interested in progressing to a sports massage qualification(jumping ahead a little bit!) and for the future, if I'm successful in my course, I intend to maintain my full time job(engineering.......boring!) and go mobile on a part-time basis and see where that takes me.
My wife qualified as a nail technician in March this year and I found her a nice forum on Nail Geek that she immerses herself in, so it's great to find this forum for me. It will be a fight for the PC now, I guess.

I don't think age is a barrier in this field. Good luck to you and before you know it you will be on that Sports course! Time flies.

I think age is an advantage, wisdom understanding and its the not just about money all become so much clearer with age....

I think you may need 2 pc's HP is very addictive.

How spooky is that? I am the same age (more or less) and start the VTCT Swedish Massage course in a couple of weeks. I too have plans for the sports massage route after that, and I also plan to carry on with the day job for now (not so much boring as hugely stressed!)

I am really pleased to see your post - do carry on posting when you start and we can compare notes! I am a bit bothered by the A&P side of things - biology was never my strong point.

I'm in the Midlands - Staffordshire. Have just been reading another thread about the VTCT courses and how they vary in quality depending on the college. I signed up with them because I thought they were a recognised awarding body - do you know anything different?

I shall be missing the first 2 weeks as we are going on a long pre-booked holiday, but will let you know what happens after my first class on 2 October.

Its exciting isn't it??!
