Now I Have A Cupping Question

Okay...I apologize if this has already been discussed in the other cupping thread. But, I have A.D.D. and just couldn't get through all of the responses in there (LOL - sorry, I'm too jittery to sit that long!).

I'm getting ready to purchase a cupping kit from http://www.massagecupping.com and I can't decide between glass and plastic. I like the glass better (I think it would feel better on the skin and be easier to work with than plastic), but I've heard that insurance will not cover glass cupping but WILL cover plastic/vacuum cupping. I don't have insurance yet, because I'm not licensed yet and am still a student, so I don't know which to choose.

Any advice on this?? I'd really appreciate it!

Heather, my advice would be to do the training first and then buy your cups. I thought at 1st that I would prefer the glass cups but after learning how to use them I found that I do much better with the plastic ones as you have more control over the amount of suction you get.

I have a friend that is using the rubber cups (Acucups) and swears by them.
So I finally ordered my set online, I am so excited!

I know of 2 places you can order the Rubber Cups. I purchased a set from both sources and there is a significant difference between them.

The first place is from the company EarthSpa, and this is where I originally got my Baguanfa Rubber Cups. I am unable to list the website address on this forum (they do not allow it) - which makes it difficult to share important information. Just Google "Massage Cupping NW" or "Baguanfa" and you will find the massagecupping-nw website. Scroll down to the picture of cupping equipment and that picture is a link to the order page.

Then I got an email from a company called Premium Ready who have them and call them Acucups.

I ordered a set from them too, but am so disappointed because the inside rim of each of the 4 cups has a very sharp edge which is quite uncomfortable - even at times painful. Clients I have used them on say it feels like they are being scraped, whereas the set I got from EarthSpa has a very smooth inside rim which feels much nicer and people prefer my Baguanfa set over the Acucups. I will not be using the Acucups set.

Also EarthSpa sells a really nice 3 cup set with glass bells and rubber bulb - I use these all the time as well!

OK, so now I got the aucups and I have to say that they are amazing!

I've been using them on myself for now, but my patients are eager to try them, so meybe next week I'll start some basic massage for them.

As far as the last comment about Acucups and Earthspa products - they both are the same. I cannot understand how they are "scraping" the skin if you are using oil...then you're not using them right.
It seems that the last post was copied and pasted a few times on different posts promoting your products and not really relating to the original subject. :evil:

Hmmmm. That's an interesting comment. One of the reasons rtallman may have posted the same information in multiple locations is that you are posting similar cupping questions on multiple threads. I'm also curious if you sell Acucups, because your posts seem to be a cumulative sales pitch for that brand, and you seem to take it personally that rtallman has a different opinion.

By the way, I visited both websites, an it seems that Earthspa is located in WA & owned by Jesse MacLean (not Renee Tallman).

No, I do not sell any of these products in my office, I simply use them.
The statement was purely made because it had nothing to do with my question in the post.
I asked for advice with the acucups (which I had already purchased, as you can see in my post) and not where to buy them...
I also noticed that the same post was copied an pasted in more than just a couple of posts, so to me it looked like spam.
If it wasn't, than I apologize!

Anyway, on a lighter note, I am proud to say that today was my first session with the rubber cuping and it went excellent! My patient even set up an appointment for her mother!
This is thanks to all the links that I received to the online videos!
I also have to correct myself, it was not the video form massagecupping, but "cuppingmassage" website, which I believe is a swedish website.
This lady has a few videos online (on YouTube) on facelifting, which was my main interest.

Blisss is correct - and I'm not a seasoned blogger, so I apologize in advance for posting the info in more than one place.

I searched the blog for massage cupping and came across other threads where a question was posed about the subject matter and specifically the rubber cups - so I used the same post so it would be seen there too.

And regarding the original subject on this thread, I thought it involved requesting advice on equipment?

I purchased the DVD from the lady in Sweden and she shows some great applications - unfortunately it is in Swedish and a strange dialect I guess, because one Swedish translator I showed it too had difficulty understanding it. I think it's worth seeing though - besides she has this hilarious picture of her holding a toilet plunger - I kid you not - I almost died laughing.

I agree, at first I thought I would love the glass the most, but really the plastic are much more practical-and don't involve FIRE!
