Oils to aid study concentration

Hi everyone - my teenage daughter is now beginning her study for her up and coming exams.

Can anyone recommend oils to use in a burner to help her focus and keep up concentration levels?

Another tip is to take a tissue with the same oil on into the exam - this can help jog your memory as there has been an association between what you learned and the aroma in your mind.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed here, lots of useful info & the tip about taking the handkerchief with the same aroma into the exam is I think absolutely excellent!

Just for information, my friend who is an aromatherapist mentioned to me using rosemary, and when I went to the supplier to order it they told me no, the relaxing benefits of rosemary would outweigh the concentration aspect. I found this quite strange, purely because as a result of that I went on and did some research & reading on the web which seemed to support using rosemary to aid study.

They suggested instead an oil described as lemon/lime, has anyone heard of this?

I have studied aromatherapy and my tutor told me about using rosemary whilst studying and also placing a few drops on a tissue.
There are warnings with rosemaryo not use if youhave high blood pressure or suffer from epilepsy also might antidote homoeopathic remedies.

Lemon and limeare just another two essential oils that you might be able to use.

Rosemary is not relaxing!! It is a mental stimulant and is bracing and fresh so perfect for concentration . You could also try basil and lemon. My personal favourite would be frankincense........no known contra-indications, relaxes the body (with a particular affinity to the chest, breathing etc) but allows the mind to remain alert and open. Frankincense blended with lemon would be a lovely combination - 3 drops of each in a traditional, candle-heated burner or an aromastream. Alternatively, one drop of each on a tissue.

I think I used Rosemary & Eucalyptus when studying for my Masters, and also used the hankie tip. I think it was as much for giving me a jolt to sharpen my wits during the exams as anything.

I recommend u to diffuse a few rosemary, basil and eucalyptus oils in her room before she starts studing. they will stimulate her mind and improve memory.

stay away from levander oil.

hi i have just read this thread i have an exam coming up on wednesday so i will put some rosemary oil on a tissue and use it during revision so heres hoping i get the best mark ever
