Old peoples pub!??! Ha!

Hi all, Ive got some really helpful tips already from people here but just putting this out there

We are heading to patong next week, 4 females getaway ~ ages bw 35 - 45.

We are looking for a pub/ bar for night time that plays music we would know!! Doesnt have to be Aussie, just older music!!

Any ideas??

If that is Margarita Bar, then you could listen to it at the other end of Bangla. IMO it is the noisiest load of cr4p cover songs EVER (volume 1) - Went in for a beer once in afternoon to watch a soccer match that was on - Singha 120 baht. BG said cost was to cover the bands, so you have to pay for the 'bands that cannot play music' even when them not there !!!
I would suggest any small bar and ask for your type of music to be played. If you are in bar spending they will find what you want !!

I liked Margarita, good variety & long play list. ABC Absolute Bangla Club also has live music no BG's but limited play list.

Just make sure you get your mates to catch you if you do any seforum.xxxe diving.

Seriously, just follow your ears.
There are a lot of cover bands, some better than others that are only too happy to "Play for pay" (No not the same as P4P).
You can find some in the smaller bars along the sois as well as on the main street.
Apart from that, most of the bars and A-Gogos play your kind of rock music in a very party friendly environment. Have a look in at Rock Hard, end of Bangla. Do check out Rock City later in the night for live ACDC, Guns n' roses etc.

No offence to Lynn here, but had a similar situation when over last trip at said club (with average cover songs) a group of 40yo western ladies there having a good time, but thinking we would be interested in hooking up with them when 25yo TG's everywhere 555

rock city is opposite marguritas,they have an AC/Dc cover band....if your into it.

i would recommend you visit Sunset plaza at the southern end of Patong beach road where the Beach,Dolphin,Ocean View and Blue Coral bars are.

they have an older rock music subscription radio station that has no ads there.

the music is great plenty of Aussie classics and more from the era you`re talking about.

that bar complex opens at about 10am? but is a great place for a relaxed arvo-pre evening out drink and has a nice view of the sea/sunset.

I thought Scruffy Murphy's would have been the obvious choice, drinks, food and live music all in one....perfect for 4 middle age women....

As for music, try giving Hard Rock bar a visit in Soi Seadragon (if it's still there. First or second bar on the right as you face the soi from Bangla Road. The owner has a huge record collection and you can make requests. If he has it, he will play it. Again, not knowing what's left of soi Seadragon, over on the opposite side a bit further into the soi, there used to be a place that had a band playing music, can't remember the name. I'm sure there's plenty and you will find several you like.

Loads of places: the Irish pubs: Molly Malones and Finnigans on Beach Road and Scruffy Murphys on Bangla all have live music playing the usual 'classics', more live music on Bangla at Honky Tonk and another one further up on the left as well as Absolute, Margaritas and Rock City as already mentioned. In Jungceylon shopping centre there is the Irish Times and the bar next door also has live music.
All of these bars play older music when the bands arent on.
Basically any bar/pub that caters more for the farang couple rather than the single guy looking for sex will have a friendly atmosphere and play dull, boring music you have heard a million times......err sorry, I mean the classic rock and pop from the golden years ..... 5555

Margarita bar used to be good when Mark and Tommy used toplay acoustic covers but since the new Thai band have been playing it really just sounds like 'loud noise' and if I were you i would avoid it.

If you start off in these places then it gives you somewhere to meet until you have found your directions and then any place from their really is worth exploring.

They are both play live music which sounds similar to what you are looking for and have Happy Hours and similar drinks and they are both air conditioned.

Its really helpful to get the names of bars as we will recognise them in our travels so i do appreciate u taking the time to help me out

And to the poster re: Western women pickin up ~ I think the LAST place western women would go to pick up Wetsern men would be Thailand!! Totally agree there!

I really didnt realise there was so many options so yeah it looks like this was another dumb newbie question LOL

Goodguy we go in 8/4 and leave 20/4 and we cant wait!!

Tums Bar is 2nd on the left from Bangla in Soi Seadragon with a live band and you can get up and sing your favourite.
Open until 4 am or later if you get a ping on 555!
