Yeah, a couple of reasonable points regarding exotic drinks on Bangla, however have tasted some bloody good ones when out and about. Also there is no excuse for the lack of alcoholic content, even if they are making it up as they go along -- -- and of course if you advertise something, you must surely be able to provide it if asked, otherwise just stick to beers and shorts and leave it at that??.

As regards Nickes Fishermans Friend...it was sort of nice in a strange Nordic way?!!

Today me and my friends where the first time in Pirates a new place on the corner of Soi Bangla and Soi Crocodile upstairs on top of the Tequila bar. We where really impressed! A great setup, stylish design, good sound and sexy girls. The staff was friendly and helpful and the about 20 dancers were wearing sexy uniforms in pirate style. What the owner told us, is much more to come. We had a good time there and I personally like places that make a difference and an effort to step out of the "same-same" crowd. Connect four and the nail game are not what keeps Patong going the next years ;-)

I totally agree with you about the alcohol content in the drinks! You'd be hard pressed to find a bar that gives you a fair measure. And not just a measured measure, but a fair measure that makes the drink taste the way it's supposed to taste! Maybe there should be a new thread with a list of bars that actually give you a good drink, but then methinks it would be a short one. :yes:

If this is the newly renovated spot with fish tanks Phil, I had a problem there as well, 9 months back. Me and a lady had 4 red wines at 150 each. Waitress returns with a bin of 800.
I tell her its incorrect. She takes it back , returns with a bin of 700.
I ask for the boss, who comes over, a polite Englishman who goes off with the girls and , after 10 mins returns with a bin of 600. I give the waitress 1000.
He goes on about how the cashier was in the toilet and the waitress got the multiplication wrong ( even with a calculator), something I can easily accept now living here, and then says , " My aim is to offer exceptional service, so what did you think overall?"
I couldnt help but say, " You can start with getting the bin right".
Girl returns with change, 400 with 100 in 20's and scowls openly when I pocket the change and walk off.
He ignores her bad manners.
Result?
Never to return either...

Hi mate, no this is a different one, and I think the one that you are talking about has now become Absolute Bangla (or something like that) and is owned by the same Absolute mob that sell the timeshare stuff. However prior to that it was taken over by English guy with the intention of making it work, however obviously it didn't.

On the subject of the drinks in the Parrot Bar, perhaps I should approach them with the recipe for the local stuff we used to brew in the Sahara desert -- -- 50 gallons of water, two sacks of sugar, and some yeast. Let it ferment for about a week, then run it through a Still at between 172 and 174 degrees Fahrenheit three times to make sure it is "pure", then finally run it through a carbon filter. You will have something akin to 180 proof alcohol and it makes a damn good mixer. We called it White Lightning.

Problem being that it was illegal over there being a Muslim country, and it would be here also -- -- just a thought!!

Funny old thing - I also went in there last night.:intello:

I was in the Shipwreck waiting on Barbie Doll and saw it was open.One of the staff is a female Hasher and so I went for a look see.The place is well laid out and the girlies wearing Pirate style stitched leggings and white tops.Some good lookers in the bunch.The owner was introduced to me and seemed a friendly bloke.:intello:

The beers were the same price as any other beer bar in Bangla - not club prices.:rules:

Only disappointment was that they do not have their own toilets and so you still have to do the "walk of shame" when needing a wizz.:erf:

Steve w.......never thought about it like that, however it was pure alcohol and went very well with Seven Up or a Coke. The biggest problem however was in ensuring that it was distilled at the right temperature, because if the temperature went outside of that band, it produced the wrong sort of alcohol (whichever sort that is) and that was easily capable of making one go blind, sustain brain damage and could easily kill somebody.

Hmmmm, on second thoughts maybe it wasn't all that pure!!!!!!!!!
