City of Springfield officials are cracking down on illegal massage parlors following multiple investigations of prostitution.

88 Relaxing Massage and Golden Relax massage were raided by the Springfield Police Department in April.

SPD Deputy Chief Sara Pickford told me Golden Relax Massage has shut down since the warrant while 88 relaxing massage is still open.

Both locations are located on South Grand Avenue, and Pickford told me it was believed the two sites were in connection with one another.

The locations are located in a residential neighborhood.

There’s a new city ordinance in the works, said Pickford; the provision would require Springfield massage parlors to only hire therapists who have registered under professional regulatory agencies. She says Peoria and Chatham have similar ordinances.

The April raids on South Grand Avenue are unrelated to the FBI raids on establishments operated by Gregory Frasse, who was indicted by the feds earlier this year and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
