Business Success is a Moving Target!
Even though I earn a large part of my income from teaching classes and seminars as a CEU provider, I want to offer a word of caution 1st before you jump in to signing up to learn another technical modality or take another seminar. (Yes, even mine!)
As a practice-building coach and mentor, I encourage you to take a moment to find out WHY you want another seminar on a new method or a technique class?
Do you want to take a new class because you think youรขโฌโขll
รขโฌยข Make more $?
รขโฌยข Get more clients?
รขโฌยข Easier on your body?
รขโฌยข Attract a new market?
Those are all good reasons, but also, maybe not needed.
I want you to consider this: What would happen instead, if you simply focus on growing your biz with with the massage methods and modalities you already know?
Too often I see therapists chasing the proverbial รขโฌหnext shinny objectรขโฌโข because itรขโฌโขs easier than doing the work of running a business.
Itรขโฌโขs also very often used as a good excuse to why someone has not yet met their goals.
Does this sound familiar? รขโฌลI need to know how to do myofascial therapy
(or insert YOUR needed modality here) and THEN I will start getting more doctor referralsรขโฌยฆรขโฌ.
Obviously, itรขโฌโขs great to learn more, and I would never stand in the way of furthering your educationรขโฌยฆ BUTรขโฌยฆ I see therapists pinning their hopes of greater success on รขโฌหjust one more class and then it will all come togetherรขโฌ
Therapists Iรขโฌโขve worked with have seen great boosts in revenue and numbers of new clients when they invest the same number of hours it would take to learn the new method into working on the business part of their current business. What if instead of a new class, you took the financial investment and put that towards learning more about running a successful massage business, or improving your marketing material or website?
[h=3]Donรขโฌโขt get me wrong รขโฌโ
Iรขโฌโขm not saying to never take another modality seminar,
Iรขโฌโขm merely suggesting you think about it and see if it is the right move for you,
at this juncture in your practice![/h] And for those of you who need CEUs to keep current on your certifications, remember, in addition to modalities, most organizations accept business classes and seminars too. (Check your association for details)
If you decide now IS the right time for a new class รขโฌโ SUPER COOL.
To get you started, Here are my educational links:* TheDiamondMethod and SuccessfulMassageTherapist
And there are hundreds of other wonderfully talented educators you can learn from too, all over the world!
You can find some of them joining me for the online (virtual)* World Massage Conference. Iรขโฌโขll be sharing some ninja business tips on getting easy doctor referrals on Sunday, June 2,* and teaching 2 classes at the* World Massage Festival in August in California.
My final word on this today:
Owning a Successful Business is A Moving Target รขโฌโ Never Stop Learning & Never Stop Working On Your Business.
You should have as many business, sales and marketing books on your book shelf
as you do books related to the clinical parts of your practice!
Remember, Success IS Possible!
