The Illinois Valley Community College therapeutic massage program has been around for 21 years. It has taught hundreds of people to be massage therapists. But those days appear to be over.
The Board of Trustees has decided to make the program inactive. IVCC says there arenโt enough students enrolling in it to cover the cost of a full time coordinator. Current students will be able to complete their studies, but no new enrollments are being accepted in the program.
Also, the board is reassigning fitness center director Tony Ruda to full-time teaching duties as of June 30. The fitness center has been closed since last March because of the pandemic, so the college doesnโt need a fitness center director right now.
