Travelling to Phuket alone..

Hi guys,

Am new to the board, y'all seem like quite a friendly bunch.

Anyhow, am coming to Phuket at end of August and just wondering if its weird to travel to Phuket alone? Ive travelled alone all over Thailand when i was a student and not so interested in the bar scene. However, now I'm coming in Aug with the sole purpose of letting of letting of some steam! Dont plan on trawling the bars for whole week, want to try and find a girl after 2-3days that will stay LT with me at this awesome place ive found just outside of Patpong. Any ideas on where to pick up hot young things more geared towards LT?

Im a very sociable guy and not exactly the introvert type, but just wondered if its unusual for single guys to come to Phuket alone or if its common occurence, and also how easy it is to meet ppl? I get the impression its quite a friendly place, and may even try and meet up with some BM's, but would be good to get a little more colour from the fountain(s) of wisdom )

Hi, and Welcome, first, Patpong is an area in Bangkok, Patong is on Phuket. It is quite common for guys to come alone, and it usually takes a very short time to meet someone.555
Hot young things geared for LT will be easy to find in the Beer Bars, as it is the quiet season in August. Get yourself over to MTB in Soi Eric, and get introduced to the BM's there at that time.

after you've dropped your bags at hotel, had a shower and hit the town..i'd say you'll be alone for 10 minutes at most! enjoy your trip!

It is low season so I am sure the girls would love LT.

I have travelled to LOS a few times on my own and you meet plenty of people to hang out with and have a beer with....

thks for quick and warm response, and yes, I did mean patong, not patpong.

Sounds pretty easy to meet people as I thought, and will def try to hook with some of the other BM's at this infamous MTB! Do BM's meet there every night, or are there certain days, dates when there are BM meetings?

Sarsbuk, will definately take you up on that beer! Will get in touch closer to the time, as it says in the calendar, im there from 22-28 Aug.

Head for Mai Thai Bar after 10PM, you are bound to meet several.

I travelled to Thailand and then to Patong by myself in April this year.
Had a ball!
No problem travelling by yourself.
As some of the other BM's have mentioned.....get down to MTB around 10pm.
Nikke, Ead and staff always made me feel welcome.
And other BM's were friendly too.

WTTB Went to LOS by myself recently and I am convinced this is the best way for a single guy to acclimatize and enjoy the break. Have a read through the threads and get some tips before you travel and you will do even better.

hey umbongo, last march was my 9th trip to los and my first trip alone, it was very easy to meet people in the same boat at all the bars and everyone in my experience was glad of company for a few beers and a laugh, for me it was a great experience and i always felt like i was among friends as always in patong, im back on 4th aug for 3 weeks and cannot wait, tip( guesthouses are good option for meeting more people than hotels, im booked into chalermporn guesthouse for aug and read good reports. best of luck mate.
