BURLESON, Texas - Two massage parlors have bees shuddered by officials after their owners were accused of human trafficking.
On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) released a statement that six-month emergency closure orders were issued against two separate massage businesses.
TDLR received a customer complaint against Top A-Massage, located on SW Wilshire Road near NW Newton Drive, that the women working there were wearing lingerie, and living inside the establishment, both of which are against Texas law.
During an on-site investigation, several indicators of possible human trafficking were found, including sleeping quarters for two people, at least one unlicensed masuse, and the establishment's owner, Cai Wei Evans, wearing provocative clothing.
The establishment had also been featured on a number of illicit websites describing the specific sexual services offered by the location.
TLDR also received a law enforcement complaint alleging that massage therapists at the Best Massage on NE Wilshire Blvd. at Northwest Hillerty Street were offering sexual services to customers.
Investigators found video monitors in each of the massage rooms with a security camera video feed of the front lobby, as well as a large amount of food and personal items in the establishment's kitchen area.
Although the employees all denied living in the establishment, only one employee could provide a home address, and they all admitted to working long hours.
TDLR encourages anyone who suspects a business may be involved in Human Trafficking to contact the National Hotline for Human Trafficking at 1-888-373-7888.
